A lot of people ask why it cost to much to make t shirt quilts. This is the what we have to put on the back of each t shirt. And this stuff is not wide. So for one quilt even with it being on sale I had to get 30 yards. So 30×3.49=104.70. That's a lot right there. Then if we cut out the t shirts yourself that's time spent and so we factor in how much time we spend cutting the shirts, ironing them, ironing on the interfacing. Then you have the cost of the sashing(fabric border around the shirts). Could be about like $20-$60 depending on the type and how much. So you spend time sewing the sashing on around the shirts and sew them all together. Then you sew the big border around. You buy backing to go with the quilt. About $20. And we personally do not own a Long Arm(quilt machine) so we pay someone who has the batting for the middle. So they charge 10 cents a yard. Depending on how big your quilt is that could be another $125 right there. So all in all that equals about $300 or more.
