Finished my first ever quilt. Blessed to have such good friends who give you their t shirts and say "you got this". I'm very happy with how this turned out! Also love that I can make people happy with something I made. 🩵
Currently working on another one as we speak. Hopefully can get this one done faster since I already know what I'm doing lol.

It may have taken a while but we finally finished it! Our first t-shirt quilt. Put a lot of time and effort into this. We are proud to see it go off with a Senior swimmer from class of 2020!

A lot of people ask why it cost to much to make t shirt quilts. This is the what we have to put on the back of each t shirt. And this stuff is not wide. So for one quilt even with it being on sale I had to get 30 yards. So 30×3.49=104.70. That's a lot right there. Then if we cut out the t shirts yourself that's time spent and so we factor in how much time we spend cutting the shirts, ironing them, ironing on the interfacing. Then you have the cost of the sashing(fabric border around the shirts). Could be about like $20-$60 depending on the type and how much. So you spend time sewing the sashing on around the shirts and sew them all together. Then you sew the big border around. You buy backing to go with the quilt. About $20. And we personally do not own a Long Arm(quilt machine) so we pay someone who has the batting for the middle. So they charge 10 cents a yard. Depending on how big your quilt is that could be another $125 right there. So all in all that equals about $300 or more.

Getting some more practice in and making some more stuff! Staying busy inside. Also went through all the fabric and now it is organized by texture and styles. Things you do when stuck inside 😂😂

Trying to piece this all together and I already have a queen sized quilt almost figured out and still have 25 more shirts left. So I'm having to split this quilt into two. Not possible to put 50 shirts in one quilt. But excited to figure out what fabric to use to fill in missing spots and the side. Love finding new sewing things to do!

Ok so you're probably wondering why I haven't posted much on here. Well my mom and I got my grandmother's machine to work for like a day. So I'm going to be getting her other sewing machine to work at my house. Then hopefully I can add more stuff to the shop. I am not giving up on this, there's just been a snag in thread.
Thanks for understanding 💙
