Today, we’re stepping inside the Andrews Store (our present Discovery Annex)!
Before it was filled with shelves of preloved books, it was the heartbeat of local commerce, operating as a General Store, a service station, and more for decades. Here is a look at the journey of this wonderful building from 1932 to today:

Albert Gibert built the present building for his two sons, James and John to run after they graduated from the Citadel. It included the present breezeway, but when James became manager, he tore part of the building away to create an Esso service station with a drive through for cars, and a small office building at the end which later became the post office.

The present building became a General Store. In 1932 the property was bought by Wright Andrews, Sr. who ran it until his death in 1975, after which it was leased by his wife, Hazel to Terry Silvers until 1979. Thomas and Geraldine Ware leased it until 1985. It was leased to Bobby Gene Stamps, then to James Cantrell around 1995. Cantrell ran a General Store and also a pool hall. The last occupant was John Drayton who ran it for about nine months.

The building was donated to the McCormick County Historical Commission in 2001 by Wright Andrews, Jr. It was purchased from the Commission by Willington on the Way in 2005.
