If you’re local to us, let me tell you what an amazing group of men and women you have that serve the community. I may be a little biased but we have some great folks around here who work hard to keep their community safe. No matter where you live, I highly encourage you to support your LOCAL FIRE and EMS agencies. There are a large number of departments in our great state (and across the country) who operate off of donations from members in their communities. The small amount they may receive from the county is not even enough to scratch the surface to support operations such as fuel, equipment, training, protective gear, truck and equipment maintenance, etc. There is rarely enough left over to save for truck replacement and truck wear out. These volunteer departments and combination departments rely heavily on you!!! So when you make annual donations, instead of giving money to national level organizations (where most of your dollar goes to fund someone’s salary instead of helping folks/animals), please consider donating to LOCAL organizations. Keeping donations local causes a positive and bigger impact to your community. So please support your local first responders. If you’re local to me, there is a list of local volunteer and combination departments in our immediate area in the comments. If you’re not local, please reach out to local departments to see how you can help support them.
