Happy Why Wednesday ❤️

This series is all about highlighting the real people and businesses that remind me why I (Breanna, AGM) continue to believe in this mall and our community, even on the hard days.

This week, I’m shouting out Ryan and his business, Sword in the Stone LLC.

Ryan is a model business owner. He’s intelligent, treats his employees well, and has a genuine passion for his products and the community. Sword in the Stone always has lines of people outside for various product drops, and they’re usually packed for events as well. Ryan’s only downfall? He always forgets to share late night event photos with us!!! 🤣

Sword in the Stone was previously located in Downtown Wilkes-Barre, just a block off the Square. Ryan purchased the business and eventually moved it here, opening at the mall in June 2023. His business has grown tremendously in such a short time, and he’s currently expanding! He will be opening a second location at Laurel Mall in mid-September. How cool is that?!

Ryan has fostered a super inclusive community in his space. If you’ve never played these games but are interested in getting started, I highly recommend stopping by for one of his events or even just to chat with Ryan and his awesome staff. They are all incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to welcome new people.

His store also accepts trade-ins for Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and more. They host events literally every day, including board games, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer, and more.

Calling out all my friends in NE PA! We know you loved seeing these old signs from the mall and movie theater from the early 90s last year. And I'm hoping with your help, we can uncover some more things from the past!

We love our friends at the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre, PA and they're going to be hosting a Retro Walk on Saturday, September 19. They're hoping you can help them with old photos of the mall, directories, or any memorabilia from the mall's 55 year history to enlarge and display on the wall in Center Court for it. They don't intend to keep any of the originals.

They're also hoping to find antique vendors to sell items in the common areas. Unfortunately for them, while many malls had archives or other saved photos from their past, there's nothing like that around Wyoming Valley.

Hot Topic will have an all-store Listening Party this Friday, August 14th, at 4pm local time at all Hot Topic locations, similar to their Sleep Token event in May 2025.

On 8/14, KATSEYE’s new EP, WILD, drops!

We stand with our friends at Abide Coffeehouse. ❤️

Many of you have seen the unfortunate news that they are closed indefinitely until the issues with their current landlord are resolved. We see how hard they are working behind the scenes, and we have full faith that they will be back up and running in no time. They are a staple in our community and are always giving back.

So many of you have reached out to us with concerns that they are no longer moving into the mall or asking why we are not trying to get them here, not knowing that they have already committed to coming. The owners of Abide are opening Mateo's NEPA right next to Mayhem Amusements Arcade and just across the hall from H&M. Unfortunately, their opening has been delayed due to the issues they have been dealing with at Abide, which have been going on long before they went public with this information.

If you’re wondering how to get your Abide fix, they have restocked their coffee and merchandise at their sister shop, , located in the 900 Rutter Building in Forty Fort.
