Here we go again, get your notepad out it's that time of the week!

Did you know that one of, if not the most important part of balancing a pool is the PH value of your water? The PH is an indicator of how "basic" or "acidic" your water is.

If your water is acidic (low PH) it will do a better job at keeping the pool clear but the water will inherently be far more corrosive which is bad for you and your equipment. Good ways to see if your PH is low without even needing to test is that the chlorine smell of the pool is far more pungent than normal, and also if your eyes are ever burning when opening them under water.

If your water is basic (high PH) it will breed algae far easier as organics have a much easier time surviving in basic water and because of this it has a very high chance to cloud up the water or cause an algae bloom. So if you have a re-occurring algae problem or cloudiness in the pool after treating with shock/chlorine it could be your PH that is causing these problems.

In just 9 days, we've made major progress turning this algae-filled pool around for an excited family. 💦☀️

If your pool is still under the cover, now is the time to schedule your opening. The longer it stays closed, the greater the chance of algae and other water issues.

It's time once again for: 🌊 Pool Tip Tuesday 🌊

Did you know that in a salt water pool if it is not warm enough you will not get an accurate reading on your salt levels? At lower temperatures the salt in the pool is not soluble and you will not get the actual reading for how much salt is in your pool.

We recommend for salt water pool owners to wait until the temperature of the pool is at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit before administering any salt to the pool. We also recommend you use things like shock during the early season to maintain your chlorine until it is warmer as some salter generators won't work if the salt is too low.

Today we are going to be starting something we will deem:

🌊 Pool Tip Tuesday 🌊

Did you know that you should only be shocking your pool at night time, and that there is two prime reasons for this?

Firstly, any type of chlorinated shock requires you to wait approximately 12 hours after shocking for it to be safe to swim, so what better time then the night time when we are sleeping?

Lastly, when you shock the pool the chlorine is "active" and in that sense it is working to kill algae and bacteria in the pool. When chlorine is "active" it is very susceptible to sunlight so in order for it to treat issues properly it needs to be done when there is no sunlight on the pool that will eat away at the "active" chlorine.
