Here we go again, get your notepad out it's that time of the week!
Did you know that one of, if not the most important part of balancing a pool is the PH value of your water? The PH is an indicator of how "basic" or "acidic" your water is.
If your water is acidic (low PH) it will do a better job at keeping the pool clear but the water will inherently be far more corrosive which is bad for you and your equipment. Good ways to see if your PH is low without even needing to test is that the chlorine smell of the pool is far more pungent than normal, and also if your eyes are ever burning when opening them under water.
If your water is basic (high PH) it will breed algae far easier as organics have a much easier time surviving in basic water and because of this it has a very high chance to cloud up the water or cause an algae bloom. So if you have a re-occurring algae problem or cloudiness in the pool after treating with shock/chlorine it could be your PH that is causing these problems.
As always let us know if you knew this, if it was helpful, or if you still have further questions!
