As many of you know, I have a booth at Generations Antiques & Artisans - Repurposed, Upcycled, Hand crafted where I sell hand made items, paint, and an assortment of other items. When I opened my booth 3 years ago my mom insisted I sell these Stabby Kitties that she had run across. She had been buying them in bulk and giving them away. I didn’t really want to sell them, but she was so insistent that I reluctantly agreed. They’ve been one of my best sellers.
The ladies who work the register at Generations told me there was one man in particular who will come in and buy several and give them away to women he comes across while out and about town. I asked the ladies to give me a call next time he came in because I wanted to give him a discount. Today I got that call. Bob was his name. Bob explained to me the reason why he gives these away is because his daughter was murdered 10 years ago. He asked me why I sold them and I explained it had to be God working through my persistent mama.

***Y’all, his daughter’s name is Amber Lynne.
Can you believe that!?!? Sometimes the goodness of God overwhelms me.
Bob bought several today to take to a family reunion, so he can give them to Amber’s cousins and other family members.

When I was 5 I told my mama I was going to marry Elvis. I was 7 when he died. Oh! The tears I shed for my future husband that would never be. My love for him and his music has never died.
With the new movie coming out, I was inspired to create something that captured his uniqueness and s*x appeal. I love the final outcome. First, I stripped him bare and gave him a good cleaning. Then I primed him and put a base coat of Dixie Belle French Linen on. Then he got 2 coats of Moonshine Metallic in a 50/50 mix of Wedding Belle and Gold digger. Then he was clothed with upholstery. What a transformation! A before picture is posted in the comments.

This dresser was a step away from the junkyard. I even had to strip away and replace the entire left side. I chose to embrace the roughness with a faux leather look achieving a more masculine look.

Meltdown… Y’all, I redefined the word with this one. I had a particular look I was going for. It required a technique that I’ve struggled with in the past. I was determined! I was determined to keep trying, and keep trying, and keep trying. At some point, my determination met insanity. They didn’t particularly care for one another and that’s when the meltdown happened. I allowed myself a good pity party for the rest of the day, then on to plan B. I knew I wanted this color of coral and I wanted this transfer, so with that in mind I woke the next morning, put on my big girl pants and stared blankly at this beast I’d grown to hate. I finally settled on this watercolor effect. I’m glad to say hildabeast and I have made amends; I quite like her now. As for the other technique, I am still determined. Someday, this illusive technique will be mastered by me, but that day is not today.
Hildabeast is a king size headboard I made into a bench. The colors are a mixture of Dixie Belle Peony, Ho**ey Tonk Red, Champagne, and a little Flamingo. The accent pieces are made with resin from Redesign with Prima molds. They have black wax in the crevices and gold guilding wax on the tips. The transfer is from Redesign with Prima.
