We have just completed the installation of this wonderful Rodgers Infinity 367 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Manhattan, KS. We were happy to see so much excitement around this project. The people at St. Thomas were an absolute joy to work with. The reactions we got upon their first hearing the instrument made all the hard work well worthwhile. 16 new Rodgers speaker cabinets hauled up to the chamber, cables run through the attic, amps wired, new drivers installed in 2 Walker B-2000 cabinets (that they affectionately refer to as “refrigerator speakers” due to their size). The acoustics of the room were very unexpected. We ended up using zero reverb because the room sounded so good on it’s own and after careful speaker placement, the organ is heard absolutely evenly in every corner of the room, something I have not seen before. We are excited for their first Sunday being able to use this organ and are excited for our follow up trip in about a month to see if voicing needs to be adjusted further after they get a chance to use it for awhile.

This was a very helpful and informative couple of days. I went with the purpose of wanting to be able to confidently service anything that I am warrantying. I walked away very impressed with Rodgers’ dedication to supporting all of their digital instruments, going back to the beginning.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. We’ve been so busy, it’s been hard to find time! A lot has happened in the past few years. We’ve moved outside of Wichita, still staying close by. We have a dedicated shop building now. It’s a work in progress, but it’s very exciting. We are still doing lots of pipe organ work and have added a great deal of pipe organ work to the company. About a year ago, we added Rodgers and Johannus organs to our company. I will be honest, I was unsure at first. I have had several Rodgers organs in the past for practice instruments, older analog instruments. And they made good practice instruments. Rodgers organ dealer and pipe organ technician David Rankin was retiring and I agreed to meet with him up at the Cathedral in Salina, Kansas. I will be honest again in saying that I was blown away by the instrument in Salina. And after hearing several other phenomenal examples, I decided to go ahead and join with Global Organ Group and add Rodgers and Johannus instruments, along with several of their other brands, to our company. I decided to invest fully and ordered a new Rodgers Inspire 234 for our home for me and my daughter to practice on. To say that I enjoy this instrument very much would be an understatement. Additionally, we were able to provide this instrument to Sterling College for a concert that they held back in February. So we continue our pipe organ work, doing so much more of it than we had before and we now add Rodgers and Johannus instruments to the picture as we look to an exciting future. I plan to share more of our adventures going forward. I will show our next big project in my next post.

Such a privilege to recently bring this organ back to life! The first day I went through it, I found 153 dead notes. The day we started the work to wake it back up, there were twice as many. Having diagnosed the source of the problem and going through it note by note, and finally tuning it……what a hidden treasure we have in the Sorrowful Mother Chapel in St. Francis Hospital! More to hopefully come regarding this 1948 Wicks. 🙂
