Day 11 of my Handmade 12 Days of Christmas - but today I’m featuring pieces I have that were handmade by others!

1. My husband and I have a tradition where we go to Katy Art Glass each year for their Blow Your Own Ornament event. We have one for each Christmas we’ve been married!
2. This cone Santa is one of my favorites finds ever. My husband found it on a shelf above my head, and it says Craft Time at Dona’s and has the year I was born.
3. The angel was created in Africa.
4. The old world Santa is a new chalkware piece I got at a craft show.
5. This Santa was hand-carved out of wood.
6. The Santa head is also a new chalkware piece from the same maker.
7. I wish I had made this needlepoint (right?) Santa.

Day 10 of my Handmade 12 Days of Christmas!

I painted a second wooden gingerbread house. There were three wooden houses in the pack, but I haven’t been able to paint the third one yet. It turns out it is kind of stressful for me because I am not comfortable painting. I do a lot of research on Pinterest and Google to find examples of actual gingerbread houses and I try to cobble the designs together.

Day 8 of my Handmade 12 Days of Christmas!

I made these two fabric reusable Santa gift bags last year for our family but I ran out of gold thread to actually finish them - until tonight! The gold thread does not match the rest of the bag 🫠, but I doubt anyone would actually notice (or care). It adds character, right?

Day 5 of my Handmade 12 Days of Christmas!

I made a stocking for Rosalie (this isn’t it), and decided to make another out of the same fabric I used on Day 1 since all I had made was one pillow so far out of it. Matt asked who the stocking was for when he saw it hanging with the others, but I found a new place for it today since it is really just for decoration.

Day 4 of my Handmade 12 Days of Christmas ✨!

I painted this tiny wooden house to look like a gingerbread house. Painting is way out of my comfort-zone, but I went for it because it was at a mom’s night event. I mixed the brown color by putting orange and purple together (I was so impressed with myself 🤩), and looked for inpspiration online. I like how it turned out!

Day 2 of my Handmade 12 Days of Christmas! I think people know that I am very fond of my “scrappy” makes, and this scrappy Santa is probably my favorite. I’ve been sad to not have it out because one of my cats took it downstairs last year and put teeth marks in it, but then I realized we could keep it in the nursery because we keep that door closed anyway!

I realized there is quite a collection of second-hand items here as well. The table is from my grandma, the snowman bucket was thrifted in Kansas City, the ABC book is from , the bronze bird is from , the One Line a Day book was a gift from my dad, there is a precious cloth nativity book gifted to us from family friends that was used in her classroom for years, and I just thrifted the book on the bottom right the other day.

It’s so fun to see how these items have come together.

Trying to focus more intentionally on joy as Christmas gets closer as my family has experienced two deaths in just over two weeks. So I’m going to try to share 12 handmade Christmas projects leading up to Christmas! I made this pillow last summer as I was trying not to stress out as I waited to see if my IUI fertility treatment had worked. I didn’t realize at the time I was already pregnant!
