It has been a very emotional and bittersweet day. I just want to take a minute to say thank you to everyone. The response has been overwhelmingly understanding. I will truly miss all of you.

I have received a lot of interest about potentially buying the store, at least one of which is definitely legitimate. I will keep everyone posted as things develop.

Before I opened Geekopolis just about 2 years ago, I had spent my entire working career in the field of IT. As many of you already know, about a month ago, I was offered and accepted an IT job in the Dallas area. The job is simply an opportunity I could not turn down.

Everyone's first response to the news was "Does this mean the store is closing?" From the beginning, the answer was always no. I've spent the last month preparing how the store would be run with me living 2 hours away. During that time, I've come to the hard realization, that the store is not yet autonomous enough to be simply handed over, nor will I have the time to devote to continuing to run the store in the manner it deserves.

I know that this news will come as a shock to many of you. I assure you all I did not reach this decision lightly. Honestly, a part of me feels I am letting down the communities we've built here, and I will struggle with that for a long time. However, at the end of the day, this is the decision that is best for me and my family.

We are open today, Sunday, July 5 under normal hours. However, due to the time restrictions imposed by moving and my attempts to do everything to keep the store open in my absence, I have left very little time to organize this. As of now, the store will be closed tomorrow through Friday, and all our future events have been cancelled. For those of you who have already paid for pre-orders or pre-registered for events, either stop by the store today or contact me through FaceBook here or email [email protected] and we will get you set up with a refund.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has made this store something to remember from employees to volunteers to customers. I will always remember the amazing community we built. If you have any questions, please reply to this post. I will answer any and all questions you may have.

Our comics shipment this week was delayed by a day. It is currently set to be delivered today. As soon as it arrives, we will begin unpacking it and getting it ready for sale.

The Warmachine Reckoning Book Release event is coming up this Saturday. We'll be opening at 9:00 for this all day event. It is run league style, show you can show up and play all day. Games that start before 4:00 will count toward the event.

Sunday, we'll be running Star Wars Imperial Assault at 1:00, followed by the Dice Masters Constructed Age of Apocalypse event at 4:00.

Next weekend, June 27, we'll have a Standard Magic tournament starting at 11:00 for store credit and a Doomtown Card Game tournament at 12:00.

That Sunday will be the Dice Masters Trinity War Storyline Event #2 at 1:00. It will be Justice League Draft, followed by the HeroClix Age of Ultron Storyline event #1 at 4:00.

Important information about the Magic Origins Prereleases.

Magic Origins prerelease weekend is July 11-12. We will be hosting 4 events throughout the weekend. Midnight, 11 am Saturday, 2 Headed Giant 5 pm Saturday, and a bounty event at 2 on Sunday. They will all be held at the store for this set.

Due to an increase in the cost of packs, the cost for our events will rise to $30. We will have a pre-registration discount at $25 with paid pre-registration.

We will also have exclusive play mats once again. First 30 pre-registered players will receive one as well as the top 8 of our Saturday event.

Sunday we will have 5 representatives of the store in the event. If you are able to beat one of the store players, you'll receive an extra prize.

With the extra pre-registration incentives, we will be opening pre-registration a little sooner for this set. Pre-registration will begin Friday, June 12.

June 12th we'll be at the McNiel Jr High track with a tent at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This year's them is Superheroes, so feel free to come out in costume. For anyone who plays games published by WizKids (HeroClix, Dice Masters, and Attack Wing) they now have a leaderboard for each of their games. Tournaments played here at Geekopolis will count toward your ranking.

The HeroClix Age of Ultron event begins next month. This is your chance to get your hands on the Age of Ultron boosters available exclusively through this event series.

DC Dice Masters Trinity War event began yesterday, but with 4 more drafts in the coming months, it's not too late to get in on the action.

The Star Trek Attack Wing Q Continuum event starts in two weeks.

The D&D Attack Wing Tyranny of Dragons event will be wrapping up next month, but you can still come win an awesome Solar Angel miniature even if it's too late to win the grand prize.

We'll also be running non storyline tournaments over the coming months for D&D Dice Masters and Marvel/DC Dice Masters as well as D&D Attack Wing once it's current event concludes.

JUNE/JULY WEEKLY SCHEDULE UPDATE:

Changes this month:
Force of Will TCG has been added to Wednesday night.
We will now host Hearthstone Fireside Gatherings Thursday night
Casual play for the minis game Wrath of Kings on Thursady night
Golem Arcana league on Friday night

We also realize that some nights are getting very full. To help maintain the momentum some of our games are gathering, we are going to refrain from moving games to new nights unless space completely fills up on a regular basis.

Finally, we are now an official tournament store for Golem Arcana and should be official for the Force of Will TCG within the next two weeks.
