Some projects are more than just another order.

Recently, I was asked to create this memorial piece in honor of Gypsy, a beloved companion who meant the world to her family. Losing a pet is never easy, and being trusted to create something that helps preserve those memories is a responsibility I don’t take lightly.

The customer wanted a large custom portrait featuring Gypsy and a favorite quote. As a small thank you for trusting Sideswipe Creations, I also included a smaller engraved portrait so they could keep another reminder of their best friend close by.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. Every custom piece tells a story, and sometimes that story is about honoring the ones who left paw prints on our hearts.

I show a lot of finished projects on this page, but I figured it was probably time to introduce the person actually making them.

I’m Chris, the owner of Sideswipe Creations. What started as a hobby in 2023 has grown into something much bigger than I expected, and I’ve had the opportunity to make some pretty incredible pieces for military members, families, businesses, and organizations throughout our community.

I’m still a small, owner-operated business. When you message Sideswipe, you’re talking to me. When something gets designed, made, engraved, packed, or handed over, it’s coming out of my home shop.

Sometimes the simplest designs make the biggest statement.

This layered mountain scene was custom crafted from Baltic birch and finished with the reminder:

“The sky was never the limit.”

We recently had the opportunity to create this custom going away plaque for a member of the 82d Security Forces Squadron at Sheppard AFB. The customer was on a tight timeline, but one of the biggest advantages of working with a small business is our ability to move quickly when it matters most.

This custom recognition piece was created using a section of an actual aircraft tire from the 80th Flying Training Wing, mounted on a handcrafted hardwood base and finished with precision laser engraving. It was designed as a one-of-a-kind presentation to honor a valued local community partner whose continued support has made a lasting impact.

Projects like this are my favorite because they preserve a piece of history while recognizing the people who help make the mission possible.

I know I'm a little late. I spent the holiday unplugged and camping with family, but I still wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July!

Hot garage meets engraved metal. When I finished packing this order, five tumblers-one design.

Whether it’s a personalized gift, an award, a retirement piece, or something created from a rough idea and a quick conversation, seeing their final reaction to a completed order always priceless.
