⚡ Well, Whitewater, last night did NOT hold back. Half the town is running on generator power and vibes — and more storms are on the way. But The Bookteller? We are open, fully stocked, and proudly analog.

It's exactly what a stormy day calls for.

As Black History Month closes, we're highlighting Ibram X. Kendi's Stamped from the Beginning—a book that demonstrates how racist ideas weren't born from ignorance, but were deliberately constructed to justify policies.

By using the life stories of five major American voices, Kendi chronicles the story of racism in America and traces how those in power remain in power.

From slavery to Jim Crow, to immigration enforcement, the pattern persists, and this book reminds us that understanding history isn't about staying in the past—it's about recognizing when we're living through its sequel.

The Book Teller is honored to celebrate voices that illuminate Black excellence and celebrate the richness, complexity, and struggle for equality inherent of the Black experience in America.

Today, we're featuring the graphic novel "Black Arms to Hold You Up" by Ben Passmore.

Passmore's book is both a visceral history of Black Americans' struggle for liberation, and a celebration of Black Resistance, told through the sometimes conflicted relationship of a father and son. Black Arms... is a call to know our Black History.
