💙 In preparing for my son’s 504 meeting, I created a two-page “snapshot” template to highlight his strengths, challenges, and accommodations. It made such a difference walking into the meeting with something clear and visual in hand.

I thought other parents might need this too — so I’m sharing it free. You can customize it for your own child here: https://www.canva.com/design/DAGwoDh0jOM/CYCtSFEGWEVodbqcjc-hVg/view?utm_content=DAGwoDh0jOM&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink&mode=preview

Every child deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. 🌟

Back to school isn’t just a transition for kids—it’s a whole journey for parents too.

To the parents managing IEPs, prepping visual schedules, and bracing for social exhaustion:
💛 You are not alone.
💛 You are doing holy work.
💛 You deserve softness too.

Pack a snack for yourself. And maybe a hug.

There’s something extra special about the first 100 follows.

You’re the early believers. The ones who paused the scroll and leaned in.

This space is still small, gently growing, and sweetly finding its rhythm.

But it already feels like home. And that’s because of you.

From the bottom of my neurospicy, whimsy-loving, little heart: thank you.

Back to School with Neurodivergent Kids: 7 Tips for a Gentler Transition
Because new seasons don’t have to mean new meltdowns.

1. Preview the unknown.
Tour the school. Walk the schedule. Show photos of teachers and classrooms if you can. Predictability is peace for many ND kids—help them build a mental map before the first day.

2. Practice the rhythm, not the rules.
Instead of forcing a 6 a.m. wake-up cold turkey, gradually move bedtime and wake-up by 15–30 minutes. Ease into the morning routine with connection, not correction.

3. Create a comfort anchor.
Whether it’s a sensory bracelet, a fidget in the pocket, or a lunchbox note with a doodle and a reminder that they’re loved—give them something small but grounding to carry.

4. Validate, validate, validate.
“It makes sense that this is hard.”
“I hear you.”
“You’re not wrong to feel that way.”
Their nervous system may be louder than their words—listen to both.

5. Communicate with the team early.
Email teachers, aides, and school staff with anything that helps your child succeed—sensory needs, communication style, triggers, and what helps bring them back to calm.

6. Build decompression time into the day.
School takes energy. Recovery isn’t optional. Don’t expect too much right after pickup—try snacks, cuddles, quiet time, or movement first.

7. Celebrate small wins.
A day with fewer tears. A moment of bravery. A tiny sparkle of growth. School is a mountain, and your child is climbing it in a different set of shoes. Every step counts.

💌 Bonus tip for caregivers: Extend yourself the grace you give your child.
This season is a lot. You’re doing better than you think.

*Disclaimer: I am not a professional therapist or educator. I am a Neurodivergent mom with a Neurodivergent son in Elementary School. We’ve been through a few seasons on this, and I just wanted to share some things that have been helpful for us. Take what is helpful, leave what is not.

07/29/2025

There is a quiet kind of bravery in showing up when everything in your body says stay home.
Neurodivergence is often invisible. But it takes real strength to navigate a world not designed for your wiring.

We see you. We celebrate your unseen wins.

💬 What’s something small you did today that took a lot of energy?
Let’s cheer each other on in the comments.

🐇✨

This bunny found a carrot bigger than he ever dreamed.
Not because he chased it.
Not because he earned it.

It was given.
Freely. Fully. His.

That’s the heart behind this design—
a reminder that the greatest gift isn’t something we earn,
but Someone who meets us with love.

No striving. No conditions.
Just grace.

The bunny didn’t earn the carrot.
He just received it.

Maybe today, so can we.

This blanket is from the Weighted Whimsy collection. A collection of comfort objects that gently anchor us in truth.

This blanket isn’t just a cozy throw. It’s a snapshot of one of the most tender moments of my healing journey.

I created the Lion on the Lake design during a Healing Care group at my church—a small, sacred space where I was finally able to slow down, be honest, and let God begin to tend to parts of me that had been carrying too much for too long.

During one of our Safe Place prayers, I had a vivid image: I was sitting on a quiet dock at the edge of a still lake. Everything around me sparkled with softness. And right next to me… was a lion.

He was massive. Strong. Powerful. But he wasn’t moving. He didn’t need to. He was fully present—calm, protective, peaceful. I knew instantly: this lion was the Lord.

Jesus, in all His strength and ferocity, sitting beside me in gentleness and readiness. Not fixing. Not rushing. Just being with me. That image became a turning point in my heart. It reminded me that safety can be fierce. That I’m not alone.

I turned that moment into this blanket—because I wanted others to feel what I felt in that space. If you’re navigating pain, fear, or simply trying to rest, I hope this soft throw reminds you of who sits beside you. Always.

Maybe I’ll share what happens next in the story another time. For now, I just want you to know this:
You are deeply seen. Fiercely loved. And never alone on the dock.

This little shop is more than a business. It's a love letter to the neurodivergent minds I cherish, a soft landing for the weary-hearted, and a celebration of whimsy as a form of healing.

I’m Brooklynn, an artist, storyteller, marketing strategist, and deep feeler who has spent a lifetime learning how to turn pain into beauty, and sensitivity into strength.

Growing up, life was often chaotic. Fairy tales and musicals were my escape, and eventually, my armor. I clung to whimsy like a lifeline, dreaming of castles and courage and singing my way through the hard parts. Years later, I would step into those dreams as a performer at Disney, becoming the princess I once needed as a child. But even in the magic, I carried questions about identity, mental health, and how we heal.

So I studied psychology. I chased meaning. I built a career in marketing and storytelling, eventually leading creative teams and campaigns. But the truest education came when I became a mother.

My son is brilliant, complex, wildly perceptive, and neurodivergent. Raising him cracked my heart wide open. I began to see the world through a new lens—one filled with color and sensitivity, overstimulation and surprise, and the constant tension between not fitting in and belonging anyway.

Through it all, I kept making things. Art, stickers, stories, designs. Slowly, they became more than hobbies. They became reflections of our shared experience. A soft rebellion against the idea that we have to conform to be worthy. A reminder that we are allowed to take up space, even if that space is shaped differently.

And so, Neurowhimsical Gifts was born. A tiny shop with a big heart for the neurodivergent, the highly sensitive, the beautifully wired, and the people who love them. It's where art meets empathy. Where advocacy wears sparkles. Where mental health is met with gentleness.

Thank you for being here.
Thank you for making space for the tender, the silly, the sensitive, the magical.
You belong here just as you are.

With gratitude,
Brooklynn

Hi, I’m Brooklynn—dreamer, maker, neurodivergent mama, and the heart behind Neurowhimsical Gifts. 🩵

I started this brand with love, healing, and hope tucked into every design. I wanted to create something that felt like permission to be yourself, to take up space, to rest, to play, to feel it all.

This little business is more than stickers and spinners. It's a soft place to land. Thanks for being here. ✨
