Historic Valley Junction

Historic Valley Junction Valley Junction is home to over 140 distinctive stores, restaurants, & independent businesses, and hosts over 60 free and family friendly events every year.

Historic Valley Junction is the gathering place that is the heart and soul of West Des Moines—a delightful mix of old and new, bridging generations with unique shops, vibrant events, and a walkable hometown feel. The Historic Valley Junction Foundation guides the evolution of the original Valley Junction district in West Des Moines, Iowa by preserving and honoring our historic character, supportin

g small businesses, and connecting the community. We have been a proud Main Street Iowa program since 1987, using the Four Point Approach (c) to historic commercial district revitalization. The Historic Valley Junction Foundation is accredited annually by Main Street Iowa for Main Street America. We encourage you to learn more! This page is run by the Historic Valley Junction Foundation, a 501(3)c nonprofit organization. While we work with the City of West Des Moines, we are not the city or any other government organization. All of our Board of Directors and committee members are unpaid volunteers. If you are interested in being on either, please email Steve Frevert at [email protected], or call 515-222-3642.

Dedicated volunteer Darlene Strachan was honored as the Historic Valley Junction Foundation's Leadership Award winner, and the Valley Junction Farmers Market/Music In The Junction won in the Special Event category. It was an evening of celebrating successes with friends, peers, and some familiar faces. Iowa Downtown Resource Center Main Street America
