Great testimony!
We love all of our Blessings customers, but many times, we believe they are “providentially” sent! That means that God sent them at a certain time for a certain purpose!
Last week, this dear man, James Smith, came in. He always comes with a sweet spirit and an easy grin. This time was no different. But I felt the Holy Spirit move on me the minute he walked in. I knew he would understand the healing touch that I had experienced in my body and I also knew he attended a church I went to many years ago, for many years, actually.
The Lord had blessed me, “coming in,” in 1965, and blessed my “going out” in 1984. They had their 100th Church Homecoming coming up, I thought it was in October, and I sure didn’t want to miss it! So, just before he left, even though I had several more customers at the time, I called out to him, “Brother James, When is the Luna Homecoming?” When he said, “It’s this Sunday!”, I was astonished!
I was more than a little bit disappointed, because I had been very ill the past two Sundays, and I was really looking forward to attending our own church service & seeing our own church family! (actually, they’ve seen me struggle through heart issues earlier this year, a heart procedure, and yet another invasive surgery in June, not heart related, but so dire that it was scheduled a week after I saw the doctor! Two weeks after that surgery, I took Covid that hung on for months & months & then left me with COPD!
That was just the major things!!) I wanted my Pastor & our church family to see that God had raised me up again!” But I just knew in my heart that we were supposed to celebrate that 100 year Homecoming at Luna, so I told my husband about it, & texted my beloved pastor that we wouldn’t be there because we would be attending the Luna Assembly of God 100th Homecoming! He understands the connection because he has relatives there too!
Oh, my! What a glorious day! Honestly, this was the best HOMECOMING EVER! Those sweet folks put their praise on, and we heard some awesome singing, awe-inspiring preaching, followed by the biggest “POTLUCK” ever known to man!
Did I mention that these church ladies KNOW how to cook??? Wait! The church men, too!!! There was a third generation young fellow, QUINT LENARD, that made the biggest iron pot of JAMBALAYA, & it was second to NONE!!! I just have to mention this young man’s lineage! His grandparents, Dick & Dovie Lenard, we’re such precious friends of ours. Actually, his great-great grandmother attended that church too, many years ago! His Dad & Mom were there yesterday. His Mom is a songbird sent from Heaven! Then, it was his baby son that was the newborn attending for the first time!
I just wanted to publicly say “THANK YOU!” to our dear Brother, and give a big “THANK YOU!” to the church for hosting such a momentous occasion! Such PRECIOUS MEMORIES flooded my soul! The church operated & orchestrated it all like “well oiled” machinery! Even the younger generation, and 3 generations, working together seamlessly to get the disassembling & reassembling jobs done, getting ready for the next service time upcoming!
The church was blessed to have someone who had been in the church for 81 years, JOHN WHEAT, then yet another newborn that was there with his beautiful mother, for his first time ever! He was a FOURTH GENERATION to attend the Luna A/G!! Do you understand how special this day was to my heart? God had given me a great desire to be there, had purposed in His loving heart to make sure I was there, so He sent James Smith in to make sure I got the right information so Bill & I could be there! I said all that to say this! GOD IS GOOD! HE CARES ABOUT HIS PEOPLE! WILL HE DO IT? I’M HERE TO TELL YOU, YES, HE WILL!
I’ll look forward to whom God will send into Blessings next! I love it that our new place has ONE DOOR! Where we were before, for 18 years, there were 3 DOORS. Now, we can see your face & call out to you, “WELCOME TO BLESSINGS!” Y’all come! I had several people yesterday that thought Blessings had closed, so, please, pass the word along! THANKS!!!
