🌻 WE'RE BACK! And the flowers are so ready. 🌻

After 2 weeks away, I'm SO excited to open the farm stand today!

The field had a little party while we were gone. 😍 I've got beautiful summer bouquets filled with sunflowers, zinnias, lisianthus, and feathery celosia.

And there are lots of flowers heading out for celebrations today too! Three flower buckets are going to a bridal shower, And eight bouquets are headed to a beautiful peach and pink themed wedding. I love knowing these form flowers are getting to be part of so many special days. 💕

And there are still planning waiting for you at the farm stand!

I've missed seeing everyone these last two weeks, and I can't wait to fill the stand with fresh bouquets again.

A quick farm update! 🌸

The farm stand will be closed this weekend while I take a much-needed family vacation. 🌄

Every flower farmer knows that the work never completely stops, but a little time to rest and recharge is good for both the farmer and the flowers.

The fields are still growing and I can't wait to get back to harvesting for you soon.💐

Confession: Flower farming isn't always glamorous. 😂🌻🪲

The last couple weeks, I've harvested beautiful flowers... And I've also spent plenty of time handpicking Japanese beetles off my plants.

They're determined little things. And I'm pretty sure once you remove enough of them, the ones that escape start dive bombing your head in protest. 😆

It's all part of growing flowers as naturally as I can. A little extra time in the field means healthier plants and more beautiful blooms to share with you.

The good news? The flowers are winning.

Every morning brings more sunflowers, more zinnias, and another reminder that the hard work is worth it. 💛🌸

🌻 One of my favorite things about summer...
..is watching the next planting of sunflowers coming into the bloom.

To keep fresh sunflowers coming all season long in West Lafayette, I seed and transplant 100 new plants every week. While one planting is lighting up bouquets, another is just beginning to bloom, and the next is already growing in the field. I usually have 6-8 groups in different stages at any one time. 🌻🌻

I grow four different sunflower varieties throughout the season, so the bouquets are always changing.

🌻 Early summer brings creamy white sunflowers.
🌻 July is filled with cheerful gold and lime blooms.
🌻 August through October bring the classic golden sunflowers with rich brown centers that everyone knows and loves.
🌻 And in September, the deep plum varieties make their appearance to celebrate fall.

Every few weeks, the flower field changes just a little and so do the bouquets. That's one of the joys of buying seasonal, locally grown flowers -- you get to experience the beauty of each part of the growing season.

A quick farm update...

The farm stand will be closed this weekend while I take a much needed family vacation. 🌄

The timing actually feels just right. The flower field is in one of those in between seasons, with summer flowers coming into their own while the next wave is growing quickly. 🌻🌻

Dahlias are just getting started, and the first lisianthus colored up this week. The farm stand will reopen on August 8th, and I can't wait to share what's blooming then. I'll be back with fresh bouquet's through October, and some of my favorite flowers of the season are still to come! 🌸

There's something hopeful about this time of year. 🌿🌸

The flower field is changing almost everyday. The fall annuals I interplanted with the lily stems left from early June are stretching. Summer flowers are growing, late season favorites are taking root, and every little bit of work now means more blooms to share in the weeks ahead.

This week I've been harvesting bright sunflowers, and colorful zinnias, and wonderfully fragrant cinnamon basil while spending while lots of time getting the next season of flowers settled into the field.

One of the things I love most about flower farming is that there's always something to look forward to. While I'm enjoying today's flowers, I'm also thinking about how to teach people to arrange flowers and dreaming about the bouquets you'll be carrying home in August, September, and even October.

Thank you for following along with this little flower farm. It's a joy to share each season with this wonderful community and I can't wait to see what blooms next. 💛

As if reaching 2000 followers wasn't enough to celebrate, you all made it another wonderful weekend at the farm stand and at the Mosey down Main in downtown Lafayette.
