How do you find community on the road? Do you want the easy answer or the hard answer?

When we hit the road in 2015, we didn’t meet a single family on the road for the first year. Our biggest mistake was thinking we would just run into them and it would be easy. I will say it is somewhat easier these days than it was 6 years ago, but the answer stays the same. Now are you ready for the hard answer? You have to put yourself out there!

For some of you, that may be easy. You may the the extrovert life of the party. Let me tell you a little something about myself. I am as from an extrovert as they get. I have a really hard time putting myself out there and even though it does help break the ice having a YouTube channel so people may know your personality. I’m still a really shy and quiet person at times, but I do love meeting new people people and connecting.

What I love about this community on the road is, they are so welcoming to anyone. I tried to skip out on this amazing women’s adventure many times. Nathan was filming and I was taking care of my babies, but these women were so encouraging and Nathan was so amazing to insist I go have a good time.

I’m so glad and I didn’t make any more excuses and I met some amazing women on this paddle and reconnected with some existing friendships I had made along our journey. It was full of laughter, beautiful scenery, and since I feel in I can say I went swimming with Alligators 😳.

After 6 years of being on the road Full time in an RV, we have made the decision to come off the road. We thought making the change from the Airstream to the 5th wheel would give us the space we needed to continue on, but in the end we have made the decision to settle down and live a “normal life”.

April Fools! We totally love this lifestyle and we are loving the space our new 5th wheel has provided us with. We are don’t see ourselves ever being “normal” again 😂. We love being just a little bit “abnormal” thinking outside the box and we are making some of the best memories as a family.

A big thank you to Hensley for helping me with this idea for a post. She loves this day! Did we get you or did you totally see this April’s Fools post coming?
