I was lucky enough to meet Frank at luthiery school when he was a guest lecturer back in ‘99. Since then he has been easy access for advice on repair issues, especially old Martins. I’ll miss this guy. Luckily he was a prolific educator and leaves behind mountains of knowledge in his video workshops. RIP Mr. Ford

We are devastated to announce that Frank Ford, the co-founder of Gryphon Stringed Instruments, passed away Sunday afternoon after a brief illness. He was loved by those who were fortunate to know him and work beside him and he was respected by those in the wider luthier community who benefited from his generous spirit. He will be missed.

I'm fascinated and dismayed by the number of “helpful” luthier pages out there occupied by hobbyists and pros who scoff at efforts to share tips for guitar issues as if there aren't multiple ways to skin a cat.

Question: Do you have any tips you’d like to share, or do you have questions about upkeep and repair? Perhaps a civil forum is possible.

Jessica Dobson and Peter Lalish stopped by the Lollar shop recently to play for our latest Shop Session.

Jessica is perhaps best known for fronting the Seattle-based band Deep Sea Diver, but she has also played with The Shins, Beck, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Spoon, and Conor Oberst. Deep Sea Diver’s 2020 album Impossible Weight was voted the top album of the year by the listeners of KEXP Radio in Seattle.

Peter keeps a busy schedule as a multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, film scorer, and lead guitarist for the acclaimed band Lucius. He can frequently be found in the studio as a player or producer, and has graced some of the world’s great stages, from O2 Arena to indie clubs to Carnegie Hall

It was an absolute pleasure to have them stop by and play for us, thanks y’all!
