Beginning May 23rd in New Hampshire, you can ride the Laconia Rail Bikes along the old railroad that runs right along the beautiful Lake Winnisquam! This scenic Lakes Region outing sends you out from Laconia Station on a custom four-seat rail bike, giving families and friends an easy, open-air way to enjoy the shoreline, woods, and fresh New Hampshire air. The route follows a historic rail line that dates back to 1848, and the ride starts and ends at the Laconia Railroad Station, which opened in 1892 and served passengers until the late 1960s. The station itself is part of Laconia’s history, built for the Boston and Maine Railroad and later added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Along the way, you’ll pedal at a relaxed pace with Lake Winnisquam beside you, pass through peaceful stretches of trees, and have time to soak in the views or snap photos. The full trip covers about five miles round trip and lasts roughly two hours, making it a fun warm-weather adventure without being too strenuous. Rail bikes run seasonally from May through October, so riders can catch spring greens, summer lake views, or fall color. Tickets are sold by the bike, with four seats included, and all rides are weather permitting.
