I think our granddaughters' favorite thing in their Easter baskets were the 99 cent notebooks I glammed up with DecoArt Craft Twinkles. Wrote their initial with Paper Effects Peacock Gold (a pretty metallic green).

This isn't going to be a good year for maple syrup but some people have started tapping. I started Linda Lock's Maple Syrup packet, painting on top of image transfers. I used Chroma's Impasto Gel to transfer. The trick is to make sure you use plenty of Gel medium and let it dry thoroughly. Removing the paper is a little tricky. Wet the paper so you can scrub it off with your fingers but don't use so much water that the ink comes off. It's ok if a little comes off. It just makes the piece look older. Since there always seems to be some paper left (the picture looks foggy), I use a large, wet scumbler to gently scrub off remaining paper. When I think I'm done, I leave it overnight and check in the morning. If there is still a residue of paper, repeat with the scumbler brush.

Susan Abdella explains how to replace the water in Traditions paint with Extender so they perform like oils. I thought this would be very time consuming but she makes it look simple. I have loved using Traditions in a class but was reluctant to prepare my paints like this. It doesn't take much time at all. You will think you are using oils until it comes time to clean up and you just need soap and water!
