A special thank you to Still Useable Ministries Church for getting us started this morning with donations for our clothing drive.
We attended their church today, and the young adults led the sermon. They taught about looking into the mirror and seeing your reflection. What you see on the outside isn’t always a reflection of what’s happening on the inside.
I had an elder pray over me, and she spoke life into my soul. She reminded me that God wasn’t finished with me yet, and He definitely hasn’t forgotten about me… even though, if I’m being honest, I felt like He had.
Lately, I’ve been so caught up thinking about my bakery and wondering if I made the right decision to temporarily close it down. I’ve been praying that we can gather enough clothing and supplies so many children in our communities can be blessed.
Today, a mama reached out to me and asked if we could provide clothing for her babies. Do you know how hard that must have been for her? That took courage. But us mamas… we will do anything to provide for our children.
I left the church that Pastor Susan Marshall so kindly invited us to, and I just prayed…
“God, please hear this mama’s prayers. Please bless these babies in our communities. Give them the strength to love themselves and become who You have called them to be. Bless them with more clothing from our generous givers than they could have ever imagined.”
And don’t you know… it didn’t happen instantly, but just a few minutes ago, a mother messaged me saying she had clothing to donate. And it was THE EXACT sizes this mama was needing for her babies. 🙌🏼🙏🏼
WON’T HE DO IT??
So again, at church today, I looked in the mirror… and I didn’t like what I saw. I cried… I saw someone who felt broken, defeated, and hurt.
But when I left, I felt empowered, encouraged, and grateful. Grateful that someone cared enough to invite me into their church, (mind you, I didn’t realize she was the actual Pastor, showing you that her title didn’t matter to her at the moment as much as sharing the same God given purpose we are trying to do here and that’s serving these children.) she loved on me like a big sister, and welcomed me just as I was. I can stand behind a church that has leaders that teach the children to become leaders with confidence and to be a light in this dark world.
Pastor Marshall said today, “Leaders don’t let their people stay at the bottom.”
So if I have to drive all over these towns, even 45 minutes away, to pick up clothing that is going to bless these babies… I’ll do it.
Because good leaders don’t let their people stay at the bottom.
These babies deserve to walk into those schools feeling confident, loving themselves, and knowing they are loved by people they may never even meet.
They deserve to know they have parents that will do anything to provide for them even if it is through these events. They deserve to know they have whole communities rooting for them, encouraging them to be themselves, and reminding them that they are worthy of great things.
We are all blessed to be a blessing… and today, I’m counting mine. ❤️
We are still in need of all size clothing. If yall could do me a favor, if you know someone clearing out a closet, or see someone post they’re giving away clothing, please message them and ask them to hold it for you, or message me and I’ll meet up with them. I’d greatly appreciate it. Together we can make this a success and bless these babies who need it.
