In 2019 my youngest baby had just turned two and after being a stay at home Mom for 7 years I had the itch to work again. With a 7 year old, two 5 year olds and a 2 year old I was in the thick of raising kids…and dressing them. As a former Buyer I saw a void in our area for some of the childrens clothing brands personally followed. Long story short, The Blue Béret was born in my dining room.
My idea was to source and sell some of those brands I loved via a website, shows, and pop ups.
One day while driving around trying to get my 2 year old to nap I noticed how many empty store fronts there were along Rt 30. One in particular near The Gap at the time caught my eye…122 E. Lancaster. I went out on a limb and called the realtor who agreed to rent the space to me for a one month pop up. I thought it would be a great way to get the word out there about my new online business, The Blue Béret. While doing an event at 12 West in Malvern I told the owner, Jody about my crazy idea. I expressed to her that I was just a small business and that 122 was a pretty large space so ideally I would want a few others to join me. She loved the idea and to my surprise without hesitation said she was IN!
