Managed to get a couple pieces of perfection from Pirate Forge. Ones headed out to a buddy in Montana and I’m keeping the other one. Insanely sharp right out of the box. I love the material for the handle as well. I got a chance to try mine out quick on a cow that died on the farm. This blade cut through and peeled the hide back so fast it was crazy. Yanked the backstraps and inner loins out and cleaned up with ease. Can’t wait to put it to work this fall. Thank you so much for the awesome blades Wayne.

Well after building several shorter barrel 6.5 cal magnums for myself I decided that a 260 Rem AI would probably do the same thing since its not overbore. The prc's and saum's lose quite a bit in the shorter barrels. I had a custom spec reamer made from JGS. I decided to put a 20" barrel on it since Im running a can. Unknown Suppressors Reaper only added 5 3/4" past the crown. The hydro formed brass hammered while breaking the barrel in. Consistently half moa or better at 625 yds. Since I had over 10k of the 140 elite hunters on the shelf I decided I might as use em up lol. I have a pile of N555 so I tested it first after the barrel was broke in and brass was shot once. 46.2-47.0 was under 2" tall on the ladder test at 625 yds. 140 Elite Hunter at 2790 fps. There was another node up at 2865 fps but it wasn't as wide and had some powder crunch while using a drop tube. No pressure signs at 2865 fps. Decided to just load up in the middle of the mild and wide node. Shot 4 groups in a row with 46.6 gr at 625 yds and all had under 2" of vertical. Since then Ive shot a bunch more groups at 625 yds and all have been under .5 moa vertical. Same w 900 yds. Ive shot some 1-2" groups at 900 for 3 shots and several 3" groups. And a 5 shot at 900 that was 2.75" tall and 3 1/2" wide. This thing is stupid accurate and consistent as well as hardly any recoil. I don't see the Alpha small primer brass wearing out in less than 25-30 firings due to this mild load. Case head isn't moving after several firings. Ill be using this rifle for everything that doesn't require my 300 norma improved. Cow elk out to 600 and deer/antelope to 1000.

As a side note I did try H4350 and it had some nodes at 2830 and 2850 but they werent near as accurate as this n555 load. And the 4350 loads showed a little more pressure on the case head.

Made it back from Arizona for the Berger Southwest Nationals. Brought two rifles down. Used my back up rifle for the mid range nationals and managed a 7th place with a 600-37x. The long range started a couple days later and I managed a 449-28 on the first day Palma which was like 29th. The next day I shot a 400-19x out of 400 at 1000, highest score for the day, and bumped up to 1st place. Going in to the next day I felt great. The main rifle was absolutely hammering. I managed to get first relay for the final day. Hardly any wind and theres no mirage. Im shooting 10s and Xs in the first relay and all of a sudden somebody crossfires a VERY high 7 on to my target. Fellow shooters around me told me to challenge it as they knew it wasn't possible that it came from my rifle. I challenge it and lose the appeal. Around the same time somebody crossfires on to Brad Johnsons target and had a 6. He hadn't shot so he wasn't assigned the crossfire. I aim at the same spot after losing the appeal and start hammering 10s and X's again. Pit change and I talk to the target puller and ask if hed checked behind the spotting disk for another shot before he marked the 7. Cause Id been pounding the 10 and x ring. He said he didn't check behind the spotting disk before marking a 7. I get down to the pits and find another crossfire on my target in the 6 ring. This crossfire hadn't had a sticker put on it. It was just a few inches from the crossfire that was a 7. Took a pic of the 6. Talked to the Pit Officer and explained it. Cant undo the 7. Obviously I was beyond pi**ed at that point. I dropped 6 pts the final relay and ended up 20th. Im guessing the crossfires came from the sling shooters.

Aside from shooting. Jodi and the kids came down. We took our time driving out. Stopped at plenty of parks to hike and stretch our legs. We stopped and spent the night in Grand Junction to see some friends. Was great to catch up and enjoy the scenery. We then made our way through Moab and stopped at Arch's national park for some hikes. It was some amazing scenery that we will have to go back to and spend more time at. Once we were down in Phoenix we did some hikes and caught up with family we hadn't seen in forever. Jodi and the kids went hiking with them on the days I was shooting. It was great to spend the time with everyone while I wasn't shooting. For the return trip I dropped Jodi and the kids off at the airport and made really good time not stopping every few hours LOL. Was nice enjoying the weather and time away with family but Im back in the shop now.

For anybody thats traveled a fair distance to matches. You know that the cheaper ammo boxes let the ammo rattle around and get those "rings" on the brass. I ordered some custom cases from Derek at DNA Custom Engraving. Told him what cartridge Id be using and he custom cut these for me. I can flip the case upside down and shake it, throw it on the ground etc. The ammo doesn't rattle around or fall out. And no marks on the brass. It's a dang near bomb proof box theyre in. Pelican to be exact. Give them a look and a shout as they make more than just cases for ammo. Great guy and company to deal with.
