Victorian households were undoubtedly fussy and cluttered. That’s because they had ‘something for everything’, and had servants to care for it all.
One remnant from that era are bone dishes, which tucked neatly beside a plate to hold refuse. Fish or meat bones, shrimp shells, fruit pits-never had to share your dinner dish.
What would you use one for today? They make great trinket dishes, but even on a dinner table, they can be used to separate foods with different temperatures.
And they’re pretty!
