We're in the homestretch of this project — the first of several planned Border States distribution centers — and are on-track to be up and running later this year.

Workforce capacity is changing how we're thinking about technology investment at Border States.

We need to preserve expertise, simplify complex work and help people contribute sooner, while leveraging new technology solutions to meet the needs of an evolving marketplace.

At NAED National, Jeremy Begg and Chris Stein joined Forest Flager from Parspec to share a quick look at the work we've been partnering on to address these challenges. With a state-of-the-art warehouse management system, an autostore for automated picking of materials, and an emphasis on empowering our employee-owners to work efficiently, we're positioned to deliver a streamlined, reliable experience for our customers.

Our team had a great time attending the 2026 National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) Marketing Summit!

It was a wonderful opportunity to network and connect with industry peers, and we were also proud to take home the Best of the Best Award Event award for our booth at last year's NECA convention.

Michelle Sims, Strategic Account Manager – Natural Gas Construction, had the opportunity to present an Awareness Moment on the power of women's networks and industry resources at the INGAA Mid-Year Meeting last week.

During her presentation, Michelle highlighted the value of organizations and programs such as Border States' Women's Development Program, Energetic Women and the Western Energy Institute (WEI) Women in Leadership, sharing how these resources support leadership development, mentorship and professional growth.

She emphasized the importance of intentional networking and creating opportunities to build meaningful industry connections, and highlighted the importance for the conversation to include both men and women, noting that diverse teams drive stronger problem-solving, greater innovation and higher engagement.

The AutoStore system at our Upper Midwest distribution center is up and running!

Set to open later this fall, the technology features in the distribution center — including the AutoStore — will deliver up to 5x efficiency for roughly 50-60% of the lines picked in the facility. This will allow our team to work smarter to deliver fast, reliable service to our customers.
