After telling us about his experience writing his first book How to Love a Forest, Ethan read some excerpts from his new book, The Forest Year, before signing books and heading out on our first nature walk of the weekend.
He taught us how to read the clues in nature that show the history of the landscape, and gave us a mini lesson on oyster mushrooms as we came across one growing on a tree! And did you know if you scratch the skin off of the stem of a yellow birch, it smells like wintergreen!
