Finds friends! I have just listed the most amazing antebellum Greek Revival style four square with center hall here in our charming historic district near downtown Little Washington. The Charles F. Warren house boasts 9 piece crown moulding, 11+’ ceilings, and gigantic windows with original leaded glass that pour in natural light. Newly refinished original 175 year old wood floors, a modern kitchen with French Vanilla marble countertops, and 8 fireplaces 2 of which have new gas log inserts. Lush gardens, modern bathrooms, and a dining room with wallpaper, it is šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³šŸ’‹. I will link the listing in my stories and if you’re so inclined join this weekend for the Little Washington Ramble which will feature this listing along with tours of some other great historical properties!

Merry Christmas!! Held our first Christmas brunch in our dining room and it’s come a long way (grosgrain ribbon trim done, new mirror, new rug) but still has a way to go (hang mirror, get out rug creases, hang art/canton, change out buffet piece). I am also waiting to reupholster the dining chairs until after we ate in there bc 3 kids…iykyk. Overall the space functioned well and felt warm and more like ā€œusā€ since we closed on the house almost 2 years ago (2nd pic).

A personal life update…early in 2023 when we decided to embark upon our historic home renovation journey that took us from Durham, NC to Washington, NC I was also embarking on a journey into real estate and passed my licensing exam right before we closed on our house. My husband has his home inspection license and we have always hoped to invest in property or flip properties and it seemed like a good step to help us in that journey. Fast forward to present, after renovating our 1909 house and having our third baby and running FINDS in some form or fashion for the past 13 years I am ready for a new challenge and have joined the ā€œlocalā€ real estate firm here in Washington, . I have always loved good bones, you know that if you have followed this account, and really I just LOVE houses and want to bring the same eye and mindset that I’ve had in interior design and vintage furniture to real estate and help others in that journey as well, to see potential and to figure out how life can function best inside 4 walls (and hey offer paint color suggestions if desired šŸ˜‚). I am trying to get used to putting myself out there, that part comes less naturally, but I nerd out with the rest. I will still have FINDS and will still share updates on our home, but wanted to share this new journey with you as well. I have an account where I will share about life in Beaufort Co. and real estate in general, and some yummy houses too, if you care to follow along. And if you ever have thought about moving this way or having a second home on the river I would LOVE to help you with that (I am always HIGH KEY trying to convince everyone I know to move here). Thanks for all of your support over the years, and for letting me share with you.

Today vs the day we moved in vs original window treatments - just looking at how much my boys have grown since last year and noticed how much the space has changed too even if it’s not ā€œdoneā€ bc also these boys are the messiest humans on the face of the earth and I’m afraid to put pillows and cushions here šŸ‘€šŸ«£. Shout out to my fellow design minded moms of young children.

Hi, I realize that I disappeared again…to recap we moved to Washington, NC started renovating an old house, finished that reno after 4 months and finally moved in. I then had a hefty list of small projects to start on and dreamt about my kids finally starting preschool so I could roll up my sleeves and get to work. Life had other plans for our family and we are now expecting baby #3 and so MY plans of painting, polishing, and general grunt work have been waylaid in favor of rest, nausea, and napping. So there hasn’t been anything content wise to share, and perhaps in some ways this is forcing me to really live in our space first before I go off the decorating deep end, a suggestion I would always give my clients because I truly believe it but always had a hard time following my own advice. So today I finally went to an estate sale and picked up this federal mirror and added it to our living room (after listing it on Chairish, of course) which is a hodge podge of things we had on hand/from the FINDS inventory, family heirlooms, and a few things I’ve picked up and while I can’t wait to paint this space and add some drapes I’m ok taking it slow, or rather, I must take it slow. Then I also remember where we started and realize that when you pull back and look at the larger picture we’ve actually come quite far. Anyways, if you’ve read this far thank you, I felt the need to explain why I dropped off the face of the Earth, and also to promise that there will be more, one day, soonish.
