Every interaction leaves an impression.

The question is:
Was it intentional?
A thoughtful note.
A meaningful conversation.
A gift that reflects someone's interests—not your logo.

These moments communicate something much larger than appreciation.
They communicate value.

The Magic of a Gift Show ✨

Last week I spent time at two amazing gift shows in NYC—NY NOW and Shoppe Object.

I always come home inspired, but this time one particular encounter really stayed with me.

I met Katie from Kwola and learned the story behind her beautiful products.

Katie was inspired by her grandmother, Mimi, who loved to cook, entertain and bring people together.

In her honor, Katie created a machine-washable insulated food carrier that also doubles as a trivet.

I love products like this because they aren't just beautiful and useful—they have a STORY.

Katie's dream was to create something that brings people together.

And isn't that what gifting is really about?

It's about making someone feel remembered, appreciated and connected.

Gift shows can be vulnerable places for small business owners. They put their creations out there and hope someone stops long enough to notice.

I'm so glad I stopped at Katie's booth.

Sometimes you discover the perfect gift.

Sometimes you discover an incredible entrepreneur.

And sometimes you discover both. ❤️

That's the magic of gifting!

Here's a question I ask business owners:

If your top ten clients disappeared tomorrow, what would you miss most?
Revenue?
Or relationships?

The strongest organizations know those two things are inseparable.

Most businesses don't lose clients because of one bad experience.

They lose them because nothing meaningful happens between the beginning and the end of the relationship.

Silence slowly replaces connection.
Appreciation becomes an afterthought.
And eventually, another company shows up with more attention.

Retention isn't built during renewal season.
It's built every day before renewal ever arrives.

Many companies measure sales.
Some measure customer satisfaction.
Very few measure something equally important:
How memorable are we?

If your clients described your organization to a colleague, would they mention:
• Your pricing?
• Your product?
• Or how you made them feel?

The most successful organizations create experiences people want to talk about.
Being remembered isn't luck.

It's strategy.

I attended two incredible gift shows in NYC this week NY NOW and Shoppe Object and, as always, I came home inspired. ✨

What I love most about these shows isn’t just discovering beautiful, unique products.

It’s meeting the artists, makers, and business owners behind them.

Hearing their stories. Learning what sparked their ideas. Understanding their passion and, most importantly, their WHY.

Because behind every meaningful gift is a story.

Several years ago, a client told me something I'll never forget.

"Becky, the gift was only part of what mattered. The magic was knowing someone remembered us."
That sentence changed how I thought about business relationships.

People don't remember every meeting.
They don't remember every email.
But they remember how you made them feel.
Thoughtful appreciation tells people:
"You matter. We see you. We're grateful you're part of our journey."
That's relationship equity in action.

What if your greatest business asset isn't on your balance sheet?

It's the trust you've built with your clients, employees, and referral partners.
I call it relationship equity.

Like financial investments, relationship equity grows through consistent deposits over time—not through one grand gesture.
Every thoughtful check-in.
Every handwritten note.
Every meaningful moment of appreciation.
These deposits create something invaluable: trust.

When challenges arise, people are far more likely to stay with organizations that have invested in the relationship long before they needed something in return.

Question: What's one simple way your organization consistently invests in relationship equity?

After 25 years, here's what I know for sure...
Business has always been about relationships.
Technology changes.
Marketing trends come and go.
But trust...
Appreciation...
Kindness...
Those never go out of style.
If we want stronger businesses, we need stronger relationships.
And stronger relationships begin with making people feel seen, valued, and appreciated.
That's the work I love.
That's why I started Our Gift Biz.
And that's why I still believe thoughtful appreciation is one of the smartest investments any business can make.

The best gift is the one that says, "I see you."
Everyone wants to feel recognized.

When a gift reflects someone's interests, accomplishments, or journey, it becomes much more than a package.

It becomes a reminder that they matter.
That's why thoughtful gifting isn't about the item itself.

It's about making people feel valued.
And that's something they'll remember long after the gift is opened.
