Dad,
You were intelligent and complex. You were handsome and charming. You could sometimes be a difficult man, but I came to understand that many of the misunderstandings stemmed from the fact that even though I am of you, we were raised in parallel universes. Nevertheless, I got a lot of my best attributes from you, and I appreciate that.
I knew you weren’t well, and I kept putting off visiting you. That was my fault Dad, and I’m sorry. The worst part of all this is not getting an opportunity to say goodbye. I’ll never get that back and I regret it already. All I keep thinking is, never put off what you could do today for tomorrow because life is too short.
Given the current situation in Khartoum, I’m praying you can be put to rest properly.
Dad, on the bright side, there’s no more war and sickness for you to worry about. You’re in a better place now, and I know you’re watching over us. Rest in peace.
