October has been such a whirlwind that I have barely had the time to come up for air. Every year, I try to take what I’ve learned from the year before and apply it to the next, hoping to be a little more prepared and perhaps a little less overwhelmed. But the even the best laid plans are just an attempt to control the uncontrollable.
I honestly wasn’t expecting the response we’ve had to LightClub this season. I knew from past experience that it would be busy, but this year seems to be off the charts. I am floored by the amount of people who have been finding us, overwhelmed with gratitude, and doing our best to serve them all. The universe has blessed me with the greatest staff ever, but they are on the same level of overdrive that I am.
For a professional magickal practitioner, October is simultaneously the most wonderful and exhausting month of the year. We’re pulled in every direction, giving our best effort to make the most of this incredible gift of high visibility and demand.
But we can only do so much. And this pic is a prime example of what October is like.
It was taken as I was hiding behind my Magick Bar, getting ready to pop up and ferociously “greet” guests during our LightClub Shoppe of Horrors event. I had come directly from a 3 day stretch of vending at an extremely busy Gothic Market, and although my body was strongly protesting its lack of food and rest, my brain had to keep saying, “Just one more thing.”
And now we are headed towards the final week—containing a full moon, several retrogrades, and Halloween on a Saturday. It’s so much, but it’s also a huge gift, opportunity, and challenge to accept.
To my fellow magickal practitioners, especially those who do this for a living—I so understand and appreciate all you’ve done to make this season happen as only you can. I think you are amazing for pushing yourself to the levels you have, this month and always. And we are almost there…the light at the end of the tunnel is in our sights.
We’ve got this. And may our blessings come back tenfold in response to our efforts.
Blessed Be!
