Deviled eggs are a classic appetizer made from hard-boiled eggs that are sliced in half, with the yolks mashed and mixed with ingredients like mayonnaise, mustard, and seasonings. The creamy yolk mixture is then spooned back into the hollowed-out egg white halves and often garnished with paprika
How to make deviled eggs
*Hard-boil the eggs: Cook eggs until the yolks are firm, then peel and slice them in half lengthwise.
*Prepare the filling: Scoop the yolks into a bowl and mash them with a fork. Mix in mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth.
*Stuff the egg whites: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
*Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with paprika or other garnishes like chives or dill, then refrigerate until ready to serve.
Variations and additions
Savory: Add cooked and crumbled bacon, finely chopped onions, or celery.
Spicy: Include a dash of hot sauce like Tabasco or cayenne pepper.
Tangy: Mix in pickle relish or pickle juice for extra flavor.
Creamy: Incorporate mashed avocado for a different texture and flavor.
