Michael Huebener has posted the paintings for June in "Art Alley"! Thank you Michael! At least the Father's Day painting is up BEFORE Father's Day! Hope you enjoy them along with the new plants that were planted there!

Hello Summer and Happy Father's Day!

Thought I would let you know that I've been working on getting back into the shop soon. I have had more problems with my blood could and blood pressure and the doctor has taken me off chemo for three weeks. I start again next Thursday. I hope to be back in the shop by May. In the meantime, I also thought I would tell you how last Friday went.

Friday was a fun day. Started out at my eye doctor's office. My eyes have been burning and my vision has been blurry and it was driving me crazy. Turns out the chemo is drying out my eyes. Drops 4 times a day and an ointment just before I'm ready to go to sleep each night.
For the past week my hair has been falling out a lot! So.... Friday night my dear, sweet friend and beautician, Paula Oliphant, gave me a buzz cut! Thought it would really bother me, but it hasn't so far. I also bought a wig, and Paula did some trimming and styling and it looks pretty good. Thank you so much Paula. You are terrific! I have some hats so good friends made for me and have ordered a few more, so I should be set for several months! The buzz cut really didn't bother me but I certainly do look strange...no hair, no eyebrows and no eyelashes! But at least I don't have to shave my legs any longer!!!

The Warren County Chamber of Commerce held its annual banquet January 30, 2017, in the Warren County High School cafeteria

Last night's Chamber dinner at Warren County High School was wonderful! Cindy Rivers, Chamber President, did a fantastic job planning and organizing, the dinner was delicious, catered by and served by the Warren County Schools Nutrition Dept., Catering Wing, who did a great job. As Vice Chair of the Chamber, and Chair of Hometown Warrenton, Inc., I thank all of your for making last night so enjoyable!
Congratulations to our Business of the Year Award Winner, The Warrenton Clipper and its Editor, Karl Haywood! Truly a well-earned honor!
Congratulations to our Citizen of the Year, Craig Hunter! Again, a well-earned honor!
Mel and I were totally shocked when Jane Edmunds announced the winners of the Garden Club's Community Service Award...it went to Mel and I! We love working with the Garden Club and Warrenton! It is always a true joy for us, so this award means so much! and Michael Huebener outdid himself in preparing the award for us! Mel and I thank all of you so much!

Had a total CT scan on Tuesday and saw Dr. Squires before chemo today. Two very apprehensive days! He walked and said "You're amazing! I've reviewed the CT scan and the growths have been reduced by 80%!" He also said that he wants me to at least go through 4 chemo cycles, but would rather I do 6 to ensure remission and then 3 weeks of radiation to the brain because this small cell cancer does go to the brain. If I do all of that, he is pretty sure I could be in remission for a very long time. Of course, no promises, but then how can he?
I can't even begin to thank all of you for all your prayers and good thoughts! Without all of you, I don't think my report today would have been as good as it was! I would love for all of you to continue if you will! I would really like to live until I'm at least 80! Again, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart! Mel does, too!

I've been trying to figure out new "shop hours" to go with my chemotherapy appointments and my "bad days". I can't come up with anything specific because I never know how I feel until a couple of hours after I wake up. So the best I can do is if you see the shop lights on and the "Open" sign up, I'm there and would love to have you come in to see me! I will be in next week because I have to re-paint my Blind Willie guitar for the city of Thomson that got some really severe sun damage! I'll also be doing some painting for some new classes. Please, please stop by when you see the "Open" sign up!

Back in the shop today for the first time since I broke my arm and had surgery! In a cast and will be for quite awhile, but I can get some things done. Have to do some major cleaning, but I think I can finally catch up on embroidery that customers have kindly waited for all this time! Hope to get this done today or tomorrow! Come see me at my 2 shops in 1 on Main Street! I'd love to embroider for you!

Went to see Dr. Thigpen yesterday morning. Stitches out. Although still swollen, my hand and arm did not suffer from my tug-o-war with Gal. Had to go to the Augusta office for a molded cast. It seems to be working pretty well. Not near the pain I was having with the other one. At least 3 more weeks in the cast. Was able to finally do my nails last night. Not the best job but at least I don't look like the women who grow 10" long nails. Not the brightest thing I've ever done, though. Hand not real happy with me this morning! I can go back to the shop beginning next Wednesday!

My name is Maureen Smith.  I own a shop on Main Street in Warrenton, Georgia and have owned two other shops on Main Street as well as a restaurant just off Main Street. I have started this page to raise money to have "Gal", a beautiful brindle pit bull mix, neutered.  She roams town with or with...
