We work hard here in the lab and after hours and hours of testing, research, foraging and stirring everything we just want to go home and rest our weary bones but sleep evades our racing minds. Trying to find some relief to our insomnia problem we developed a new tea to relax our mind, body and spirit! Introducing Sleepy Goat to the herd!! She’s full of chamomile, rosehips, passion flower and elderflower to settle you in for a long winters nap!

What an incredible day picking hops, sharing meals, memories and just having fun at Seven Frogs Farm with our family! Julie gifted me this delicious honey so why not infuse their farms hops? I’ll be using the hops to gently bitter our more delicate infusions. Thank you everyone who came out and made the day special. I will make sure we can enjoy our efforts for a long time.

I have spent a lot of time this summer foraging and collecting berries where I can find them. My inner raccoon is for your benefit tomorrow at the night market! I made a raspberry Serrano pepper jam and a blueberry jam all from local and foraged berries! I also whipped up some delicious elderberry syrup from come out Friday and get a jar of summer!

Did you know gooseberries and other berries in the Ribes family (black and red currants) became a federally banned in the US in the early 1900s? Well neither did my Babci because our family camp is loaded with them! She planted them in the 70s and while they are still illegal to plant in some states I have been reaping the benefits of these tart little cuties for my whole life. I am thinking of a fun way to share them with all of you in the upcoming August night market at maybe some jam or perhaps a new bitter? They are seriously special and I want yinz to love them like my Babci and now I do.

Late June is the best time to harvest black walnuts for our bitters. It’s an almost two year process that makes our bitters special. These hand harvested black walnuts are from our friends yard in New Waterford, Ohio. I’ll chop these little gems up and with our blend of spices they will infuse for about 8 months until the alchemy is complete. After they are strained, the tannins need to relax and the mix ages for another 6 months then it’s ready for a plethora of uses whether that be in your favorite cocktail or as a substitute for vanilla extract in your culinary explorations, the possibilities are endless! If you don’t want to wait that long I have plenty from my 2022 batch still available!
