Since school is out, you will be welcomed this week by Amber and Grace Shively! These two are regular visitors and supporters of Homeless Books. Come and see Sonya Carver and Jeanna Bakies on the last day in May! If you are familiar with the Equestrian Therapy Program located north of Wapakoneta, then you may recognize our guest host Sonya! We recently surprised Sonya by finding and providing an amazing Braille book for their program. We found this book a few years ago for a similar request and we were fortunate enough to find another copy! Homeless Books will be open on Sunday, May 31st from 1-5pm at 401 E. Also, shout out to Patty Richardson for inviting Homeless Books to participate in the Healthy Kids Day at the Wapak YMCA. We had fun hanging out with all the kids and critters! Homeless Books WILL be open on Monther's Day, Sunday May 10th, 2026 from 1-5pm! Please stop by and say hello to Wapakoneta's well known and beloved historian Linda Knerr! Linda also maintains one of the nicest country gardens in town at the corner of Mechanic Street and Water Street! Linda will be joined behind the counter by Craig Workman. Craig is known for his photography, patronage and positive Facebook promotions of many of the small and local businesses around town. You may recognize Allison and Neal Brady since they volunteer at our local Auglaize County Heritage Trails Park District events. The book building is open from 1-5 pm for book adoptions. We are excited to announce another event coming very soon to Homeless Books! Drum Roll Please! 🥁 TRIVIA NIGHT is scheduled for this coming Sunday, May 3, 2026 at 5:30pm. This will be individual competition. All are invited to participate. The fun competition will feature random multi-subject categories, and prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places. This week you may not recognize our guest hosts because they typically work in the shadows. They are quiet and humble volunteers, but they spend countless hours serving others behind the scenes in our communities. They are amazing mentors that I now also have the privilege of calling my friends. Just a reminder, our small business friends over at Body & Soul Wellness are hosting their Psychic Fair this Saturday.
ALSO: Homeless Books will be open on Sunday, April 19th, 2026 from 1-5 pm. NOTE: For the foreseeable future, I am asking that our customers be kind to my bookish friends that are volunteering their time behind the counter. I am taking a class that meets on Sunday afternoons. This week's volunteers are Jeanna Bakies and Bruce and Kay McDaniel.
