I’m sure there are moments when other parents or adults might think we’re the world’s most relaxed parents based on how we raise our children or run our home.
In fact we’ve been told this before. 😝
But the truth is, we simply prioritize what matters most. In today’s culture, many parents unintentionally place a high value on perfection — orderly routines, spotless environments, and ideal behavior — often believing these reflect effective parenting. Yet, research in child development consistently shows that what children need most is the freedom to be children.
Play, exploration, and even moments of disorder are essential for healthy emotional, cognitive, and social growth. When environments become overly structured or focused on cleanliness and control, opportunities for creativity, problem-solving, and joyful discovery can diminish. Allowing space for spontaneity, imagination, and even a bit of chaos fosters resilience and a lifelong love of learning. True success in parenting lies not in perfection, but in nurturing a child’s natural curiosity, confidence, and sense of wonder.
