Be sure to check out The Arts Collaborative of Wakefield’s April Exhibition & Sale, “Anything Goes” at the Albion Cultural Exchange (9 Albion St) in Wakefield. This all-ages, free event showcases unique artwork from our members featuring a wide variety of mediums from original paintings, photography, fiber art, ceramics, and much more! Come support and meet some local artists in this wonderful gallery off Main St. The gallery is open Friday April 18th from 5 pm to 8 pm. Tonight is your final chance to see The Arts Collaborative of Wakefield's "Elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire", an art exhibit, fundraiser, and sale at the Albion Cultural Exchange building in Wakefield, MA (9 Albion St). The Closing Reception is Friday October 25th from 5pm - 8pm. Drinks and Snacks will be available at this all ages free event.

Ancient cultures once believed that everything was made up of four elements: earth, water, air, and fire. Our artists created artwork which interpreted the elements of life as the earth holds, water heals, air refreshes, and fire is a burning reminder of our will and creative power.

The 5x7 Small Works Fundraiser is also part of this month-long event. For the fundraiser, participating artists create and donate 5 x 7 inch works of art. The donations are for sale for $10.00 with all proceeds awarded to PAWS of Wakefield.

Come to the Elements Art Exhibit this weekend at the Albion Cultural Exchange on Friday from 5-8 or Saturday II-2. My painting is showcased as one of the ten Room to Write collaborations. Authors submitted writing pieces related to the Elements theme and artists created work to go with the words.

When you visit the Albion Cultural Exchange on Fridays or Saturdays in October, you can view my latest creations. During the summer, I experimented with Batik, a technique that involves using hot beeswax as a resist to decorate fabric. Using a paintbrush and a janting tool, I outlined my designs with the wax, which repels the dye and creates distinct shapes. After painting the fabric with dye, I removed the wax by immersing the fabric in boiling water. These four Batiks were created for the upcoming Arts Collaborative of Wakefield exhibit themed Elements - Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Hope to see you there.
