Many people have never heard of ROPE (Rapid Onset Pulmonary Edema), a condition researchers believe may contribute to some snorkeling deaths in Hawaii.

One month after the storm on a walk from Mana Kai in Kihei to The Four Seasons in Wailea. In front of the major resorts, most of the debris has been cleared and the beaches are looking much better.
At Ulua Beach and places along Keawakapu Beach there is still debris in places. The water isn’t as clear as usual along the whole area. If you’re heading out, just stay aware—especially for kiawe thorns in the sand. There are also still some brown water advisories at Kam 2 and some other places.

Still beautiful. Still Maui. Just a little more mindful right now 🤍
