We had a little homeless encampment setting up outside our family comic book shop here in Oside. In only about an hour or so, it had quickly grown to about 8 people with tarps and bikes and shopping carts.
I approached kindly and calmly, and they broke down camp and moved along to the Dunkin Donuts. No push back, no arguing, no fights or yelling. I apologized for making them leave so close to Christmas and right before several days of rain…and they apologized for blocking the door so that my son wasn’t able to exit the shop.
I offered up my favorite beanie, and a younger dude named Harmon grabbed it gratefully. We fist bumped, and I wished them well with hopes they can find somewhere dry for the night.
