At Village of Voices, we are deeply honored to amplify the voice of our newest storyteller, JoAnna Karen Smith. Known to most as "Momma," JoAnna’s presence is defined by strength, order, and control—but as she reveals with breathtaking vulnerability, that strength was forged in a fire many never see.

JoAnna’s story is not just one of survival; it is one of intentional dismantling. By choosing to tell the unpolished truth, she has ensured that her five daughters inherit something far more valuable than a "holy" reputation: they inherit freedom.

Through her work in the Generational Curses series (by Malikah Harris), JoAnna unpacks the full journey of her faith crisis, the unraveling of her identity, and the hard-won peace of forgiveness.

Today, we are shining a bright light on Monty Bigsby, a powerful new voice in our community. Monty is a survivor of child sexual abuse and a mental health advocate who is turning his lived experience into a beacon of hope for others.

Monty is the founder of the Facebook group The Elephant Sitting Room, a space dedicated to unlearning hatred and fostering human connection. He reminds us that:

"No one unequivocally holds all the answers to that which makes us great... We all hold a piece of the puzzle. We must all band together to make what lies before us greater than yesterday."
