Look at that BIG smile! 🐴😂 Pongo was full of joy during training yesterday! He kept doing these adorable “yawns” — his trainer Whisper says it helps release muscle tension, but we’re pretty sure it’s also his way of asking for treats! 🍎🥕🤣

We thank God every day for this sweet boy, the laughter he brings, and the beautiful ministry He is building through his story. 🙌❤️

🐴 GOOD REPORTS FOR OUR RESCUE HORSE PONGO TODAY!
He continues to make amazing progress, and we are incredibly thankful for the love, patience, and care being poured into him by Whisper with Stable Hands Pet Care and Services.

Here’s today’s update from Whisper:

"Pongo did so well on the line today! We had a little conversation when I first greeted him after he nipped at my sweater several times. I asked him to back and worked with him on the way to the barn about respecting space. I worked with him on releasing the tension in his mouth as well as the new spine and bum tucks and some stretching of his legs while I picked his feet. All four feet treated and then we headed out to work. He gave me numerous circles of consistent trots both directions! He is still stretching down quite a bit and offered me a canter to the right with a couple bucks. I brought him down and then asked and he gave me a consistent canter as well. Still a few bucks here and there but I think he felt good today. After work I worked with him and his mouth and he got a good facial release with lots of yawning and stretching. He was a happy boy! - Whisper "

🍎PONGO HAD A GOOD REPORT FROM HIS TRAINER TODAY!!
Here is the latest update from Whisper with Stable Hands Pet Care and Services:
"Pongo was waiting for me again which warms my heart! I saw the hesitation when I opened his stall door again this session so I worked on him in the barn a bit today with some desensitization.
Picking up a plastic chair and a bucket by the wash rack and he was a good boy. We then did some nice grooming to relax in the shade of the barn and I put silver honey on any irritated skin spots on his muzzle and hind quarters."

He was great for his feet and we worked on different exercises in hand today to give him something new. He was better going left today than right and seemed slightly off balance with a few trips so I will be adding some stretches to his routine to see if that helps!

🍎 GOOD REPORTS FOR PONGO TODAY! 🍎
We have a wonderful update to share from Pongo’s session with Whisper at Stable Hands Pet Care and Services today!
He is making incredible progress and showing so much heart!

Whisper with Stable Hands Pet Care and Services:

Pongo was in his stall when I arrived. I greeted him but he went out to the pasture lol. I gathered his tack and grooming supplies and went a brought him in. We had a longer grooming session to get as much shedding hair off as possible. He was very good! I removed his lead line and he stood and was great for his feet.

I wanted to do more ground work today due to heat so I had his ba****ck pad and he let me approach and sniff it before moving away. We repeated then had him sniff my hand and he stayed standing to have his girth secured. Such good progress from when we started!

He was an excellent listener today on the line and while he didn’t want to trot at times he would after several prompts. I removed all tack after our session and he still chose to follow me. He went to his stall and got his reward. The roll on fly repellent seems to work well for his hind legs. Thank you! All four feet treated as well today.

🍎PONGO HAD A GOOD REPORT FROM HIS TRAINER TODAY!!
Here is the latest update from Whisper with Stable Hands Pet Care and Services:
"Pongo impressed today by coming to me after I approached. I have been working with backing and signaling to come in, so it was great to see him connect without tack again. He got lots of face rubs, and since he was already a bit sweaty due to the temperatures and bugs, I hosed him off to give him some relief.

He was excellent for getting his feet treated—what a long way he has come! I set easy goals again to work on transitions and listening. We worked both directions; he was very good going left, but going right he started getting bitten again and wanted to kick out. He started a canter, but with some calming voice commands, I got him settled and doing what was asked. Once I brought him back in, he was still wanting to kick at the bugs but remained very good.

I removed all tack and he chose to stay and walk with me to the barn. Even when I tried to trick him and back up, he stopped and backed too! He did not follow me into the grooming area today, but instead went to his stall and waited by his bucket for his reward. I will miss him next week, but can’t wait to see him when I get back!" - Whisper

🍎 Pongo received a good report from his trainer today! We are so proud of his progress and his willing heart as he continues to learn and grow.

Here is the full update from Whisper with Stable Hands Pet Care and Services:
"It was so great to see Pongo today! We had perfect weather! He was not sure he wanted to work today so we started with grooming and treating his feet and some de-shedding. We are getting to the bottom of the bottle of thrush buster but no rush on replacement still have a few treatments left. He was good for his feet and with our first work of backing and coming in. He did not want to give me a consistent pace today for very long but we still achieved our goal after I brought him in on a smaller circle. He was proud of himself and got lots of face scratches when he achieved our goal of two consistent trot circles each direction. After I took off his gear and he followed me back to the barn and into the grooming area so I’m still counting it all as progress. Proud of him!" - Whisper

❤️ Our rescue horse Pongo loves to come in the back paddock to play (and his favorite scratching tree)

Watching Pongo enjoy his freedom in the back paddock always reminds us of God’s restoration. From rescue to pure joy! Watching him play and find comfort in his favorite scratching tree is the best way to start our day. We are so blessed to have him!
