As you take time over this weekend to decompress, you may notice thoughts flurrying about that feel like an attack on your right to wellness. Things like “you’re doing it wrong” or “I have to keep pushing or folx will think I’m a loser” or even “so-and-so must think I’m selfish for setting up new boundaries.”

Toxic thoughts keep us on the hamster wheel, tons of (mental) effort and drain that really take us nowhere. You have the right to heal. You have the right to set boundaries. You have the right to lower the volume on the opinions of others while raising the volume of your needs, safety, care and wholeness. Remember that a lot of this is new to us and that just generations ago, our people didn’t have the right to be well or put themselves first. We were conditioned in many ways to not have or show emotion while just carrying on every day. It will take time to break harmful, toxic cycles that at one time were sole means of survival. Some people will be threatened by the changes you are making because to them you are reflecting back their own toxic thoughts, behaviors and conditioning. Don’t let that stop you from getting the healing you need.
