The “new” Hermès colors aren’t new.

Five shades are circulating in Fall 2026 reporting: Granny, Vert d’Eau, Ciel, Vanille and Canari. We looked beyond the seasonal labels to ask what is actually changing.

We checked the handbag history against Pursely, a separate resale data platform. Granny has appeared before in standard leather. Vert d’Eau appears there only in exotic skins, while Ciel has an extensive standard-leather history. Vanille is already familiar across Hermès—from wallets and ready-to-wear to exotic bags. Canari is the least documented, with no prior bag listing found on Pursely. Pursely

The story may not be five new colors. It may be familiar shades moving into different leathers and bag categories—with Canari still the one to watch.

Would you pay $12,772 more for a smaller bag?

In the resale market we tracked, a Birkin 25 sits at $22,332 against $9,560 for a Birkin 40 — more than twice the price for considerably less bag.

And the pattern runs all the way down: 25 at $22,332, 30 at $16,645, 35 at $10,950, and 40 at $9,560.

The biggest break is between the 30 and 35. Five centimeters bigger. $5,695 cheaper.

From where we sit, smaller Birkins consistently attract more buyer interest. But if you’re buying primarily to carry, the 35 and 40 give you substantially more bag for less money.

In luxury, desirability matters more than size.

The smaller the Kelly, the more it costs.

We looked at 5,356 Hermès Kellys that came off the resale market over the last six months. Every other market rewards you for buying less bag. This one charges you for it: a Kelly 20 asks roughly 3.5× a Kelly 35.

The sharpest break is between 28 and 32. One size up and the median falls 42% — from $17,105 to $9,900. That is the biggest single step anywhere on the ladder, larger than the gap between a 20 and a 25.

Below the cliff, size almost stops mattering. The 32, 35 and 40 all settle between $8,545 and $9,900, so going bigger does not save you money.

Which means the size question is really two questions. If you are buying to hold value, 28 is the last size the market pays a premium for. If you are buying to carry, the 32 is where the cliff works in your favour — and it is the most traded size we track.

Save this before you commit to a size.
