Nicaragua. It’s been a long time since we roasted coffee from this beautiful country, too long. That’s why I’m excited to announce coffee from the Reyna del Cafe cooperative! Silky body, sweet, with notes of caramel a butterscotch. I will let you know when it’s bagged and ready!

Spent the day at Ridley’s On the Island working on their Rocket espresso machine. The left group was restricted by scale buildup. Got it cleared and enjoyed a drive on the Harbor Bridge!

******Astoria Rapallo 3 Group Lever for SALE!*****

At the roastery, I use both an Izzo My Way single and a La Pavoni BarT 2 group lever. At The Box, we use a Victoria Arduino La Leva 3 group; as a back up, an Astoria Rapallo 3 group. They are “hands-on” and give you feedback. They require attention to detail; they are beautiful to watch; and they offer an extraction curve other machines try to emulate. The trade-off, you have to wait until the shot is complete before removing the port-a-filter and so are a bit slower than pump driven machines. But I, and our customers, can live with that.

Today, we will be installing another Victoria Arduino 3 group machine. And since we now have Arduinos as backups, the Rapallo needs to find a new home. We purchased it new so it is a single owner machine and has been well maintained. Interested? Send me a message; stop by the roastery, or call me at (361) 579-3050.
