This happy place on cottage-lined side street in downtown Ventura is the home to Betty Belts, founded in 2003 by Donna von Hoesslin Pu'u, and open to the public as a retail store since 2007. In June 2016 we expanded and opened our beautiful adjacent space, the Ocean Room Gallery with the ocean photog

raphy works of David Pu'u, Donna's husband. Although we started with making just belts back in the day, we are now known especially for our upcycled surfboard resin designs, wave jewelry and immense collection of sea glass jewelry. Everything is made in our own production, partially here in Ventura, but mostly in our Bali studio, where Donna's designs are proudly made with dignity. Everything we make is fully guaranteed for six months and if repairs are needed after that, there is a minor fee applied. Interested in carrying my line in your shop? We get this question a lot: "Can I wear my Bettys in the water?"⁠

For most items, the answer is yes, except we don't recommend it with any of the sea glass rings and sea glass designs that have closed bezel on the back (under the glass) that have the potential to get water trapped inside underneath the glass. It is less noticeable with our darker colored glass, but still possible.⁠ And there's always the risk that the ocean might decide to keep one. 🙈⁠

Showering and washing your hands wearing those ones is totally fine, but avoid submerging them underwater to prevent water spotting. If water spotting does occur, we can clean & reset them for you for a small fee (silver only). 🌟⁠
