Some of you have asked how to help these men out.
They have been in Northwest Indiana since Tuesday.
Working 7 days a week until 7:00pm every night.
A lot of them have opted to stay in local hotels as opposed to the shelter that NIPSCO is providing.

The Shelters are basically trailers that sleep 36 men each. ( I think the trailers are semi truck trailers that have been converted). They have a bath trailer and portapottys.

The ones that have been coming into Kelsey’s are the ones that we’re working in my neighborhood. I just stopped and talked to them. Told them that if they wanted a place to eat to stop by Kelsey’s. That I would make sure they were fed.

I think that the word just spread to other crews. They come straight from work. Stay about an hour. Leave and go back to the trailers or motels to get rest for the following day.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of something I can offer for those of you that have been suffering without electricity, without work and possibly without hope. Let me assure you that there’s always hope! As long as we’re breathing, right?

Anyway I’ve made some rootbeer rooibos tea, and Calypso (the giant rose quartz point who is a shoppe mascot), Glory and I are here to welcome you with hugs and smiles. And if you’ve been without power for several days, I’m going to give you a bag of white sage and amethyst to take home to try to raise the vibrations of your space.

It might not be much, but hopefully a little sparkle in these endless string of gray days. 💜

Just got word that we have power again at the shoppe! I’ll be glad to sit in some air conditioning to try to dry out a bit lol.

I know we are all growing weary and being stretched to the max these past few days. Stop by to soak up some crystal love and catch your breath. I’ll make us some tea!

UPDATE: We are closed today (WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12) due to no power at the shoppe (yes, I know parts of downtown Valpo have power, but on the south side of Lincolnway, we do not.)

Plus, we’re navigating a half a foot of water in our basement at home in Chesterton with more rain on the way. Fun times.

At least Jupie is looking dapper in his Catkerchief, a new product coming to the shoppe by our own Betty Bee!

Wow. Just, wow. This may be our new reality, these horrific storms.

I live in Graham Woods in Chesterton, one of the last old growth forest neighborhoods in the state, we’re told. I’m not sure how long we’ll have any trees left if this keeps up! Too many down to count. We are very lucky to have no structure damage, just a TON of broken trees to clean up.

I am very grateful to the first responders, the utility company workers, the town and city employees, the tow truck drivers and all the other hardworking souls who are out there tirelessly working to begin to dig out of this. It really does look post-apocalyptic here.

Power is down at home and at the shoppe, so I have no idea when we will be open again. I’ll keep you posted as best I can (no generator either). Stay safe out there and remember, stuff can be replaced. People cannot. Love you guys!

Photo of my son’s house over by the Chesterton YMCA. RIP tulip tree.

Carved Greenman in copper. Stone is Preseli bluestone, the material from which the outer henge at Stonehenge is constructed. The Greenman rules over summer, and he has been enjoying a hot here one for sure.
Alas, I don’t know about you, but I’m seeing signs of summer’s end all around. The crickets are telling me so. I love fall, but I’m not ready yet to put my sandals away.
I know you all are super excited for the Halloween season and so am I. But I’ve decided to hold off putting out anything Halloween at the shoppe until Labor Day. It just doesn’t feel right to me to cut summer off. We will make it worth your while, I promise…we’re bringing in some of the best Samhain and seasonal items we’ve ever had! I can’t wait to share them with you, but just not quite yet.
Let’s let the frogs sing us to sleep just a little while longer, okay? 🐸🎶
