I have found that journaling for 15 to 30 minutes a day has really helped me with my Caregiver experience for a variety of reasons.
My most recent journal prompt was...
"What is something you did last year as a Caregiver that you are proud of?"
For me the holidays have been really tough to get through since we sold my mom's house five years ago. Financially, it was the only option but it was held so many memories because it was the place we celebrated every birthday, anniversary, Thanksgiving, Hannukah, and so much more. It was the "central location" for all the siblings and grandchildren, and now we are all spread out, celebrating on our own.
I am very proud of the fact that last year I set up a beautiful Mother's Day lunch for my mom at her Assisted Living. All the siblings and grandchildren were there and it was so enjoyable. We had flowers and balloons and gifts. The table was set with lovely Mother's Day plates and napkins and even pink silverware. My mom loved it and it created a new memory.
At 96 it is such a blessing that my mom is still here and I am thankful.
I would love to hear what you are proud of accomplishing as a Caregiver? Just being a Caregiver to a loved one is an accomplishment in itself!
