I like to keep things simple, so the goals of Uvalde Hay Sales are simple:
1.) Produce high quality, clean coastal
2.) Exceed customer expectations
The first goal is accomplished by managing our hayfields to the best of our ability. That includes fertilizing when needed to increase quality and quantity, controlling unwanted weeds and grasses and cutting, raking and baling at the appropriate ti
mes. Its a pretty simple recipe on paper, but not always easy to implement mostly because of having to work with and around Mother Nature
Our second goal is exceed customer expectations. We do that in several ways:
First, we offer our hay for sale at fair prices. I know how much it cost to produce each bale of hay. I also like to make a profit - but I don't want to be greedy either. We all can remember when coastal round bales were selling for $75 or more. When prices were that high, we were selling our hay for much less and still making a profit. We did this without taking advantage of the shortage in hay supplies. Because we were trying to build up a customer base that would continue to buy from us when prices eventually come down. Did it work? Yep. Even though hay prices have dropped, majority of our customers are repeat buyers. Another way we try to exceed expectations is to welcome all buyers no matter how much hay you need. If you need 1 bale loaded on your pick-up, then you're just as welcome as the customer who buys a 20 bale load. If you need hay, we are here to help you with your hay needs, no matter how many bales you buy. Here's another way we work with our customers - if you would like to buy more bales than you can haul with one trip, then we are more than happy to store the hay at our place at no charge until you find time to pick up the rest.
