Trail dogs welcome, in the store and on the path! 🐾

Bring your pup in and gear them up for the next adventure. We stock Wilderdog harnesses, leashes, and hip packs, Adventure Medical trail kits made just for dogs, tick tools, collapsible travel bowls, p**p bags, treats, and all the little things that make a day on the trail easier with a dog along.

Starved Rock and Matthiessen are some of the best places around to hike with a dog, and having the right gear makes the whole trip better for both of you. Stop in, let your dog sniff around, and find what you need before you head out.
They’re always welcome here, four legs and all!

See those three guys?
The one in the middle, wearing the plaid shirt, is Patrick. He’s casually looking at the Matthiessen map he designed like it’s no big deal.
But we think it’s a pretty big deal.

Patrick is a talented designer from Ottawa who has been working with us for years. He created our Starved Rock map, the hand-sketched icons you’ll find at Hike + Camp, and now our new Matthiessen map.

Those icons started as photographs from the parks, then became sketches, then became t-shirts, coasters, magnets. Now we get to share them with visitors from around the world.

Patrick is usually behind the scenes, out on the trails, and not exactly someone looking for the spotlight. So today, we’re giving him a well-earned moment.
