Thank you to the people who sent me kind messages yesterday checking in. Chronic illness sucks! I’m also trying really hard not to be someone who pretends it’s all good when it’s not. Thanks for letting me be real on here.
Anywayyyy here are some recommendations from the Carnation Bookhouse community! I love when you tell me about books we should carry in the store. Here are a few we have now, with snippets from the book descriptions:
📚Conversion Therapy Dropout: “Conversion Therapy Dropout is a behind-the-scenes look at megachurch culture, the hidden harm of non-affirming Christian spaces, and the ongoing impact of conversion therapy on gay Christians.”
📚The Tuxedo Society: “If Guy Ritchie directed a James Bond caper starring a q***r 007, it might look something like this hilarious and action-packed spy thriller by Paul Rudnick, acclaimed screenwriter and author of Farrell Covington and the Limits of Style, that blends espionage and social commentary, with an elite, gay secret society.”
📚After School Etude: “Love hits the right notes in this Boys’ Love manga about two unlikely dance partners who make the perfect pair.”
📚Football Sissy: “In Jack Brennan’s decades-long career as a sports journalist, he covered teams like the MLB’s Reds and the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals... He kept his life as a crossdresser mostly private, so his public coming out via The Athletic in 2021―one of the first men in the NFL to come out as LGBTQ+―was a surprise to many. Football Sissy offers a no-holds-barred trip through his dual lives, from his earliest love affair with a puff-sleeve blouse at age three through to his first jaunts dressed in public to surprise visits to the hospital alongside a fulfilling family life and an exciting career.”
