WELCOME TO JULY! Today is officially the Second Half of the Year Day or the 182nd Day of the Year! It's time to take a step back and analyze our goals and objectives thus far this year (forgetting about our new year’s resolutions, which likely didn’t survive beyond February 🙄) and take action and get ready for the next six months with greater energy, inspiration and determination. It’s an excellent time to reflect on your money, nutrition, work, family and other parts of your life that you might wish to change. Make the rest of the year count!

Let's celebrate the National Day of Joy! The dictionary defines joy as “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” Be kind to others to bring great joy. Enjoying each day's small and beautiful moments is the best way to fire up joy. Find happiness outside the norms that society calls for. The search for joy is often attributed to material possessions but neglects family. National Day of Joy started when caregivers realized how important it is for us to be joyful. Enjoying everyday moments improves general well-being. It is not based on outward circumstances. It is an ability to rejoice at all times and over the small things.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Where would we be without dads? Who would show off ‘dad jeans,’ tell the same somewhat amusing jokes at Thanksgiving, or spin those charming childhood stories? But of course, there’s far more to dads than their wardrobe choices and endless nostalgia for the ‘good old days’ Still, dads are heroes. Be sure to let your dad, grandad and your father figure know how much he means to you. Fast Fact: Father’s Day originated in medieval Europe when Catholics dedicated a day to honoring fathers, fatherhood, and all paternal relationships. Fast forward a couple of hundred years, and it’s now a holiday held worldwide — a testament to how important fathers and father figures are in societies everywhere.

National Dog Dad Day is celebrated every year on the day before Father’s Day. It is an opportunity for all the dog dads to acknowledge their love for their pets and strengthen the relationship between pups and their owner dads. Like all relationships between humans and pets, the bond between dog and their dog dads is special. The day is recognized so you can spend time with your dog and give it all the treats it deserves while receiving all the love in return! Fun Fact: Dogs were the first animals to be domesticated over 30,000 years ago. WOOF!

Fresh vegetables are the best micronutrient sources vital for metabolism, growth, development, and disease prevention. The natural fiber content in vegetables helps prevent constipation, hemorrhoids, and colon cancer. According to “Food & Wine” magazine, there is no such thing as a 'bad' vegetable. Some may need extra work to remove an outer shell or be peeled, and some fare better when cooked. However, there is no reason not to eat fresh vegetables every day. So eat your veggies!

America’s Flag Day marks the Second Continental Congress’s adoption of the first U.S. national flag on June 14, 1777. The first flag featured the same 13 red and white stripes we see today. However, the number and arrangement of stars have changed as the number of states has increased over the centuries. The current flag has remained the same since 1960. Will we ever go from 50 to 51?
