Just got the news — I’m in! Bethesda Row Art Festival this September.

Bethesda Row is a show I’ve had my eye on for a while. Strong jurying, great location, and an audience that actually comes to buy. Really glad to be part of it.

September is shaping up to be a big one. Bethesda and Rittenhouse Square are back to back, which is a lot to prep for, but I’m not complaining. Two great shows, two great cities.

More details soon. If you’re in the DC or Philly area, come say hi.

Nearly 100,000 dots. By hand. One at a time.

Plus all those quarter-circles rotating into pinwheels and color clusters — all in encaustic wax. It’s a lot. In the best way.

Come see it in person this weekend — I’ll be at Newton Open Studios at Newton South High School. Worth the trip if you like color, geometry, and knowing a human did all of this by hand.

Left Newton yesterday and made it down to VA for the art festival. First time raising my tent to 8’ and let me just say I’m am grateful to my friend Gary for the support. I can manage a 7’ setup, but an 8’ setup is definitely a two person job! Show starts tomorrow at 10a. Booth 204. More to come!

Modulating the size of the dots has proven to be a worthy pursuit. At 30”x30”, the varied textures really tell a great story. Beyond the color combinations comes depth that create endless interest and juxtapositions.

Okay. I finished that composition and am happy with my exploration into new textures. Loving my wax stylus!

Opened my email and there it was. I’m in for Rittenhouse in September.

You apply, you wait, you try not to think about it… and then you’re absolutely thinking about it.

Last year was a great one. Busy booth, real conversations, and a lot of moments that reminded me why I love doing shows in the first place.

And there are plenty coming up before then. Tephra ICA, Newton Open Studios, and Newburyport are all on deck over the next couple of months. May into summer is shaping up nicely.

Looking forward to getting back to Rittenhouse, seeing familiar faces, and having another run at it.

Still waiting on Armonk and Bethesda. Fingers crossed.

Working on a new piece and pushing the dot size a bit. It’s starting to take on a mosaic-like rhythm that I didn’t fully anticipate, and I’m into it.

There’s more math behind this than it might look. Keeping everything proportional as the scale shifts takes real planning, and I’m a little proud of how it’s holding together.

Like always, a lot of the work happens before wax ever hits the panel. The graphic foundation does the heavy lifting so the surface can do its thing.

More to come.!

Just another day at the studio! Onto No. 3 in the series. Accent colors are Cadmium Red Vermillion and Jaune Brilliant. Love the contrast!
